And like an idiot I don't have a backup pair. What's the best method to get these things dry in a hurry? Will throwing them in the dryer destory them and/or my dryer?

I wouldn't put them in the dryer. I think it breaks down the shoes and shortens their lifespan.
When I run in the rain (or through hoses) I just let them air dry.

I'd just take off the laces and hang them, then take a hairdryer on cool setting and dry the shoes that way a little. Then, put them in a sunny spot (if there is one) or somewhere where they can air dry.

For wet shoes I generally turn them upside down on an air vent.
They are sunning in the window at home now. After I posed I happened to Google it and they said to roll up newspaper and put it in them. I didn't have newspaper, but I crinkled up some paper towels and they seemed to absorb some moisture. I'll let you know if I have a soggy run tonight or not. :)
The newspaper/paper towel works well, but make sure to take out the insoles first. Leave those to dry seperately, and everything will dry faster.

I didn't even think about rain, when I read the thread title I thought it was from sweat. :spew:

FYI, putting shoes in a dryer will not only harm the shoes, it will destroy the dryer! (unless you have a drying rack...)
