Job 1 So I go to work and I've been there for over 3 months. They let me work 3 hours. For $7/h is it worth it to go to work if it takes 2h to get there? My work offered me 2h shift Monday-Friday so 10h/wk. I said no they then asked me from Monday-Friday 11-2:30pm so 12.5/h wk I said no. Argh. So what to do? Job 2 is Saturday for 8 h.
Check the industrial relations code where you are. In this country if you are casual you must be employed for at least 4 hours a shilft. I'm not sure if it's the same where you are but it could be worth checking.

Actually 11-2:30 M-F is 17.5 hrs unless you get an hour break in that short amount of time. I'm not trying to be a smartass, those extra hours may make a difference in your decision.
Ask for more hours? Let other employees know you would like more hours and are therefore willing to work any shifts they don't want? Start looking for a job closer to home?

I'd say no to that.

Hell no. How do you get there? How much does it cost you to get there? Does it take you 2 hours there AND back, or 2 hours each way? Either way, that's quite a bit of travelling time for a 3 hour work shift at $7/h. Always factor in the value of your time into the equation.
One of my jobs is Mon-Fri, 3.5 hours per shift. It only takes me 15 minutes to get there (15 minutes back), costs me $4 total for subway fair, plus I get paid like $18/h, so it's totally worth it for me. I quite enjoy the short hours, especially since they're early. I have the rest of the day to take care of my eBay sales, or to just enjoy my day.

I say tough the mon-fri deal out, but keep on looking for other work. I hear from a lot of people that it is easier to find work when you are employed. The Saturday job sounds like a good deal, an 8 hour shift is decent.
The IRS lets you deduct 37.5 cents per mile which is supposed to account for gas plus wear and tear on your car. If you are driving an average of 50 mph to work, it is costing you 18.75 per hour to get there. 11.25 if you average 30 mph.
If you want to look at just gas, say gas is $2 per gallon and your car gets 25mpg. That's .08 per mile just for gas, not including wear and tear on your car.
All of this isn't even including your time. If you take the amount of time you are working (say 3 hours) plus time to travel to and from (4 hours?) you are working 6 hours. If you are earning $7, that's $21 for 7 hours, or an average of $3/hour!
I'm confused as to why such a low paying job is so far away. If you do not drive there, perhaps you could bring something with you to make valuable use of the commute time?

2 hour drive for 3 hours of work @ $7, no.
