i changed my user name because @raeven was from a time where i was a different person - more depressed and nearly suicidal. Libellula is for the me of now - happy, carefree and loving life. I want positives (in my head) associated with my name, not bad memories. I guess I was just shedding old skin :)
Oh yeah, TJ's choc chips rock!! Super cheap, vegan and they melt up beautifully in cookies.
And congrats on the new you Libellula!!

Congrats on making a positive change in your life.. i went thru that last year.
I have not tried TJ choc chips yet.. but since im going to TJ tomorrow.. im going to buy it!! Something to munch on! =)
Thanks for the heads up on the chocolate! Can you mail order them? I'm still trying to find a local supplier of good yummy chocolate. I live in Texas, so mail order can get....messy.
mmm, good to know. I eat chocolate chips right out of the bag, never mind making cookies!
However, may I take this opportunity to UN-recommend the TJ's WHITE chocolate chips (don't remember, but they are probably not vegan). Anyway I tried them once - lured by their inexpensiveness - and they had a really weird, unpleasant chemical flavor. :(

TJ chocolate chips are not vegan!?!?!?!? I was told by one of the employees.. so what does "Cocoa Butter" really mean!?!?!??!?!?!?
thanks.

thanks. You are mistaken. They ARE vegan so no worries.

Cocoa butter is a misnomer. There is no butter in cocoa. It's simply the "fat" of the cocoa bean.
Don't worry, this trips up a lot of us at first.

I also noticed that the TJ vegan oatmeal chocolate chips also have cocoa butter too.

mmm... cocoa butter.... /drool
No, wait, misunderstanding - I was referring to the *white* chocolate chips as possibly not being vegan; often these have milk powder or something in them. I'm sure the dark chocolate chips are vegan, as others have said. Sorry for the confusion!

Mmm...I love Trader Joe's chocolate chips! When I was vegan I was so excited that I could actually make vegan chocolate chips with NORMAL-sized chips that actually cost less than Nestle chocolate chips! Now that's a win-win situation. I still buy them now because they are the cheapest out there, and they're yummy. :lick:
