I love Aveda. :smitten:

I use their rosemary & mint shampoo & conditioner, their phomollient mousse, their liquid gel stuff (forget what it's called, but it's a liquid gel that's really light -- the description includes "fixative" and I'm too lazy to go to the bathroom to look at the bottle, ha), and I LOVE their facial cleanser.

I really like it, because the products I use (above) are great for fine hair (I have a lot of hair, but it's really really fine, so mainstream products tend to weigh it down & make it flat). I love it!!

I love it too, apparently a lot of the products are being switched over to completely vegan. The makeup is already I think and theres a soy candle :D

I have an Aveda store in my mall & I love the smell of the store when I go in there. I have sensative skin & havent had a reaction from any of their stuff.

We use that and PureOlogy at the salon I work at. I love Aveda products, but they are owned by Estee Lauder...and EL are a pain in the a**!!!! They charge us 31.95 for shipping.....flat rate. So if all I need is a bottle of hairspray...I still have to pay 32.00 for shipping!!! Everybody else charges 7.95......it makes me so mad. And because we are not a "concept" salon, meaning we aren't *exclusively* Aveda, I as a makeup artist cannot order the makeup or skin care for use on my clients because we don't sell it. Aveda didn't used to be so f***ing pretentious!!! Curse Horst for selling Aveda to one of the most offending corporations on this planet!!!

I've been thinking that, if International Politics doesn't work for me after school, I'm going to go to the Aveda school and learn cosmetology. XD

I love aveda also, but it is expensive. I use thier shampoo & conditioner, facial cleanser and mascara. I'm also starting to love Origins (also expensive). I just got their powder compact, facial mosturizer w/ sunscreen and rockin' ginger fragrance.

It is a bit expensive for my budget at the moment, but I used to have a friend whose mom owned a salon and she would always give us freebies!! Hehe now THAT was great! I loved the rosemary and mint shampoo! Oh it was so aromatic! :) I will buy it occasionally these days, but when I do I know I am in heaven!

I thought it was expensive in the states... I looked at buying a liter bottle of shampoo here -- AU$55! (about US$42) :surprised

so now every time i go back, i get some aveda stuff :D

I LOVE the Aveda products! I don't wear make-up very often, but when I do, I hate wearing foundation that feels thick and sticky on my skin. Aveda's foundation feels very light. Also, their mascera doesn't have tar (yes - tar!) in it, like a lot of other mascera's do. Their products are a bit expensive, although not as expensive as a lot of the high-end department store cosmetics. I'd highly recommend it!

I used Aveda years ago (when I was a kid and had plenty of discretionary income!). There was a witchhazel hairspray that I really liked. I have no idea if it is still produced. I had a look at their line not too long ago, but I was put off by the price. I buy Paul Mitchell products most of the time. Unfortunately, Aveda is out of my reach at the moment.

It is, I bought a little travel size of it a few months ago. Its heavy enough to keep my hair in place but not so much where it feels like super glue.

So far I'm only using the Tourmaline Charged Oil-free Protecting lotion SPF 15. I really like it, so much so that I'll buy it again even though it's $38. I tried the Botanical Kinetics gel cleanser, toning mist, and exfoliant in place of Proactiv. That was a mistake. The products are good enough, but no match for my hormones. I've been wanting the Curessence shampoo and conditioner, but it's a bit too spendy.

i've been using aveda since last december. i usually use shampure or blue malva because it's cheaper, but i do have some curessence that i'm almost out of. drug store shampoos had been hurting my hair, it had so many breaks in it. i'm going to look into getting something cheaper once i use up all the shampoo i have i think.

i also use the smoothing fluid, which i looooove. it's like $23 for a little bottle, but you need barely any to make your hair smooth and shiny.

Funny - I don't really like Aveda's hair products but their facial cleaning line works great on my skin. I just added 'Night Nutrients' to my routine and it kicks butt - my skin has never been more clear and smooth.. Yay! Aveda!

I worked in an Aveda concept salon for about a year and a half. They switched to redken a few months ago.{stupid corprate bs} I miss Aveda. The color tends to fade a lot. I use the blue malva shampoo and conditioner.
I realy like the products but I do not know if the education at there school is worth as much as they want.

I was looking at Aveda deodorant today, actually, and it didn't say not tested on animals, but I know PETA has approved it. Do you think some of their products are tested and some aren't, or they just don't mark them? Because Revlon signed to no testing with PETA but they don't have their items marked no animal testing.

I work for Aveda as a free lance makeup artist, so if anyone has any questions about their makeup or skin care items, i can find out. Just PM me! Thanks for choosing plant-based products, not animals! hooray!

i'm a fan of the all sensitive skin care myself, although i'm hooked on the tourmaline charged oil free protecting lotion, gotta have my SPF!

are aveda products vegan, and not tested on animals (including the hair dye)?

May want to email them, too, and ask specifically about certain products.

The only thing from Aveda that I have is a custom blended fragrance. For $20 they do a "sensory journey", where they have you smell all these scents and say whether you like them or not. Then they create a scent just for you. I love mine - I'm totally getting a refill when it runs out.

And, @ skfamiliar, many of Aveda's products are vegan. Check out this thread: http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=16349

According to this (http://www.satyamag.com/aug06/thew.html) Sataya mag article from August 2006, Aveda isn't as vegan-friendly as everyone makes it out to be. :(

Why do you think vegans should avoid companies like Aveda and Origins? What are some well-known companies you do recommend?
Again, a vegan product does not mean a product free of animal testing. Neither Aveda nor Origins have verified their animal testing policy with Leaping Bunny, so we have no way of knowing what animal testing has occurred for their products. Both companies are also subsidiaries of Estée Lauder who has yet to express an interest in verifying their policies on animal testing.

Just a heads up for anyone.
