fellow veggies,
recently, a friend informed me that he unearthed some very disturbing news about soy products. apparantly, that it can lead to harmful health problems like dementia. please help me! is this propaganda? i am an avid soy lover and eater..(tofu, soy milk, edamame) several times a week. what's the skinny, does anyone know?

There was a study in Hawaii a few years back that linked tofu consumption with age-related dementia. It turned out the tofu the men in the study were eating had been processed with aluminum, which is known to be linked to dementia and alzheimer's. So that was that.

For other soy/health info, do a search--there's tons of threads around here about it. :)

Eat more curry. It's been proven to reduce plaque in the brain that is attributable to dementia and alzheimers.

Also on a side note, there's aluminum in most deoderants. Have to be careful there.

I think it's specifically the turmeric in the curry that has the beneficial properties, I know it's pretty widely accepted in India to be a health supporting substance.
