My sister lives right near Coralville mall, I should eat there next time I visit!

Taco Hell is also great for this: when I go I usually get a grilled stuft burrito, sub beans for beef (you can do this with any oftheir items), hold the baja sauce and add nacho cheese. It is soooo yummy.

:brood: Those schmucks told me they could not leave meat out and substitute beans!! Grrr on them. They lost lots of business from me, because when I ate meat, I used to eat there ALL THE TIME. Now I just eat there every now and then, and get a bean burrito or something. At least they'll leave off the dairy.

I *HOPE* their beans are veg*n friendly. They'd better be, after all the business I've given them.

I don't eat at burger chains much, but when I do I usually get a burger minus the beef, minus the cheese, minus the mayo with heavy salad plus beetroot...yummm!! The added bonus is that it's cheap...here they subtract the price of the meat and the cheese, and add 20c for the beetroot, which in the end means that my s/o pays $3.20 for his burger and I pay $1.80... :)

Where do you live that has burger joints that stock beets?

I think it depends on the store. When I went there, I specifically asked if the bean burrito (without cheese) was otherwise free of dairy and animal products, and was told that it was.

They have something new, I forget what it's called, but it has a hard taco shell in the middle, salad on top, and meat/cheese on the bottom. I'm very tempted to go in and ask if the bottom part can be substituted with beans. Has anyone tried this?

Congrats on the switch!
Anyway I been one for 12 years, I was 11 when I began and all that time have lived with meat eaters/hunters and all my friends were as well... so its been hard but I managed. I always remind myself of why I chose to do this and how why I like it this way (my health). When I eat out, which isnt often I usually go to places like this one called Fazoli's its Italian and has alot of meatless items, they are listed that way on the menu too. I found alot of "fancy" places are now offering a veggie patty of some sort. I went to Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville on vacation and ordered the veggie patty and it was the best kind I ever had (veggieland) and another time I ate at one in LA, turns out the waitress was a veggie and offered to make me a special pasta.... she took a bit off the bill too. Sometimes they will make special things. Trust me, it can be kinda hard at first, but any questions, feel free to ask:)
