Technically according to the TOS you're not even supposed to post-slut. But nowadays the slut threads aren't even lasting a month. What's up with that?

I always saw the slut threads as a kind of a place to post silly little snippets that didn't have a place in any other thread and didn't merit a new thread. Like I was just gonna post how I'm sitting here with my head covered in dye waiting for the timer to ding. Now we're having fights over who deserves the last word in a slut thread????

We also seem to have tons of different slut threads, that are just called other things. I can see having an appropriate place to post goofiness, but this seems to be getting a little out of hand.

Well, I've been trying to not allow any more. And the reason we have SFP is so that it doesn't go on elsewhere, at least people can chit-chat there without going off-topic in other threads.

I :smitten: SFP, but I agree that it's sometimes a bit out of control. (which is partially my fault anyway, but not as much as it used to be :tame:)

I defenitely think we have way too many other slut threads though, or maybe that's just my love for SFP coming through :evil:

perhaps... is there a way to make the posts in the slut thread and related threads (game threads etc) not count toward your post count?

that way, the slut/game threads could be, without question, only there for the fun of it and not to increase your post count (which is a pretty pointless number anyway, once you've gotten beyond ten posts.)

Why would anyone want to deliberately increase their post count (beyond the ten)? I know people do, I just never understand why.

I agree - the lighting in that picture is amazing, and your facial expression is exquisite.

But back on topic, it is nice to have a thread for general conversation, when you have something to say that doesn't really need to go anywhere in particular. but it's also fun to have threads that are light-hearted and silly. Though I could do without the 'slut slut slut sluuuuuuuuuuut' posts, but I just skip them anyway....

sfp was started ages ago when there weren't quite so many members and i think shortly after this site was started (boards used to be on a different site) so everyone started back at 0 i guess and everyone was always posting random "ooh look i'm at 1000th post" posts all over the place. so people got competitive etc. and started posting short random posts all over the patch just to increase their post count without contributing to the discussions. so sfp confined it to one thread where it wouldn't annoy everyone else.
the post count was listed under our avatars at the time, now that it's not i don't think people really care that much about it anymore. so yeah i think the slut threads have become less about slutting and more about chatting which is fine i guess but i have no interest in it. if i want to have a conversation with someone i'll pm them or track them down on IM.
i suppose the thread titles could be changed to general chat or something like that but i don't think it matters a whole lot

besides the entire Veggie Patch forum is for general chat. i guess i feel if i want to post about something silly or random or OT and have a discussion about it i'll just post a thread in the patch. it'd get buried in sfp anyway so i won't get replies there.

Slut threads can be fun, but I honestly got tired of it. When I want to randomly shoot the breeze with people, I use AIM. It doesn't bother me if people post 5,000 times a month in slutting threads as long as they also make good-quality posts in other places on VB, too.
