As I mentioned in another thead, incidental to what I was writing on, there are animal product sponsor links about, I saw one for KFC itself, why is this? Someone please explain why space on a veggie site is being sold to the very people and entities we're opposed to?

The paid ads are always animal friendly. I think the ads you are referring to are the google added ones. Quite often they are innapropriate, but I know Michael removes the innappropriate ones. PM him about the ads that disturb you in case he misses this thread.

Oh, ok, the owners of this site don't have complete control over the content, hmmm, too bad because it really is pretty nauseating to see KFC ads on a site like this.

Yeah.. the ads for gelatine got me. In a thread saying how vegetarians can't eat gelatine either. But they do get removed when they are noticed.

The ads are selected automatically based on the content being discussed. If there's something particularly disturbing (like hunting trips) I try to remove them. The way I see it I don't think we're selling too many products for them so I don't really worry about it.

So you're leaving KFC ads in?

If I tried to block them all I wouldn't have time to do anything else. And I can only block a total of 200 sites so I try to be selective in what I block. Do you really think people here are going to buy KFC stuff?

Becuase you failed to remove the KFC ad Michael, I gave up veganism today and got myself a bucket of the colonel's best.
For shame.

Remember that when animal product ads are here it costs that company money, and since no one here is going to buy their product, they get nothing in return. I think its funny.

Understandable that there's other things to tend to, just annoying of course. Really pretty annoying too that someone can just dump ads on your site like that, what a pile of crap (maybe we'll see fertilizer ads now).

Become a contributing member, and you don't see the ads at all.

Offhand.... there could be a thread (hidden or just locked or something) that contains all the words of things that could bring up adverts that are bad... then the "worse" of them can be blocked easier *shrug*

Like have the words: KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, Deer Meat, Seafood, etc - all in one thread, eventually the "bad" ads would surface (once the words are repeated over and over), and the really bad ones could be blocked.

Actually, those Google ads work of clicks... each click costs the advertiser money... soooooo, if you do click, you cost them (and another mystery benefit goes to VB).

I'm not associated with VB, so I can say this, I believe.

Anytime I see an eBay google ad come up for nonsense things (like typing in someones name and eBay ad says 'Find John Smith on eBay!' I click it out of spite, many times.

Did that get rid of the google ads on this page? It worked one other time.

Works off frequency, so lets try hair hair hair hair hair, oh how I love hair, hair in food, hair in space, hair on sinks, hair on brushes.

Do you hair?

Ode to hair:
Hair is and I love hair for being hair.

Damn it, that didn't work...

Yeah, you could also cause us to lose our account, which means I'd have to pay the $200 for the server out of my own pocket. Not going to happen, you'd only be hurting yourselves, trust me.

Since the original question has been answered I'm going to close this. Any further questions or concerns can be pm'd to me.
