you know, there are some people in this world who can't eat syrup. the very concept of drowning anything in syrup is enough to send me into a sugar coma.
Ms FreshTart, try this:
Vegan Hash
1/4 to 1/3 cup dry TVP, per person
1 small cooked potato, per person
2 tsp soy sauce or Braggs Aminos, per person (or to taste)
chopped onion (as much as desired)
chopped red pepper (as much as desired)
salt and pepper to taste
malt vinegar
Soak TVP for 10 minutes. While it's soaking, chop the potatoes into small cubes. Chop onions/peppers. Saute (on medium heat) potatoes, onions, peppers in a bit of olive oil until onions are translucent and the potatoes are a little crispy. Add the TVP, squeeze out any extra water, you don't want the Hash to be soupy. Add soy sauce or Braggs. Sautee a few minutes longer. Serve hot with whole wheat toast. Add malt vinegar at will.
**If you can find HP sauce, you can also use that. It's great on this stuff.

This is a great substitute for corned beef hash or fish & chips. It's great for breakfast, very hearty and filling. I excersise a lot and find that it's enough to keep me full for quite a while. You can get Bob's Red Mill TVP at any health food store, or in the HFsection of a large grocery store.

Of course breakfast. Hitting my snooze for an extra 15 minutes is better than making me a healthy breakfast.
Quick Trip is my best friend in the mornings.
I seem to be the only veg who doesn't miss bacon or sausage or eggs. I loathed the stuff even when I was omni. The smell makes me want to vomit. Hmm. I've also never cared for eggs, even though I'm lacto-ovo and still eat them when they're cooked or baked into something, but I'll never eat them by themselves,

As I still struggle with this, I figured others do, too.
Breakfast has always been the hardest meal for me to keep vegetarian. I don't like cereal, especial oatmeal (:spew:). Cold cereal doesn't fill me up. I was always used to a heavy breakfast - toast, sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns. I've yet to find a good vegetarian "traditional" breakfast - the eggs, toast, and hashbrowns. Now, I just usually eat sandwiches or some bad days I just skip breakfast until 10am and eat something heavier then.
I still can't get Morningstar products, so I haven't tried their bacon or sausage yet. I don't like Gimmie Lean, Yves, or Boca thus far (I feel like I'm eating chemicals ).
Breakfast is still the most depressing meal of the day for me. Has been so for years, I think it will continue to be depressing...until I can handle eating pizza at 6am :D
is it possible that cereal is not filling you up because the ones you are eating are too sugary? i find that if i eat a "healthy" cereal, i'm not hungry at all in the morning (not even by lunchtime!) but if i have a sugary cereal i'm hungry by mid-morning.
is there a reason you don't like oatmeal? it has so many possibilities (i'm talking about the normal stuff you cook on the stove, not the instant stuff that's loaded with sugar). add honey/sugar, nuts, fruit, the sky's the limit.
what about making your own smoothie using milk, nut butters, cocoa, fruit, juices, yogurt? (not all at once, mind you)
recently, i've been baking healthy muffins, etc. to eat for breakfast. i feel like i'm treating myself every morning and it fills me up.
try going to allrecipes.com. at the bottom they have different categories. the brunch category has a vegetarian section, and the vegetarian category has a breakfast section. lots of good ideas in there.

Mmmm... muffins are definitely a breakfast favorite around here - there's some very hearty and filling recipes if you Google 'vegan muffin recipes' or something similar...

Breakfast is hardest for me if i'm eating at home, and i have the day off, cos i used to have eggs every morning during my holidays, in some form. I can deal with the lack of bacon and sausages, just seems like there's something seriously missing with no eggs. I've recently started to have avocado and tomatoe sandwichs, made with toast, they're really nice.

Oh, definitely dessert. Especially at resturants when they pull the dessert cart out. Ohhh man.

Breakfast is easy for me. I can eat an apple shortly after I get up and feel completely satisfied. The best breakfast is composed of fruit. Ocassionally I eat cereal when fruit is in short supply.
I honestly have no trouble avoiding and not missing pieces of flesh. It's the hidden ingredients like gelatin and mono&diglycerides that annoy me.

Whatever you call the three-am drunken meal at IHOP. Late night dining has been the hardest - when only diners and pancake joints are open. Taco Bell closes too early.
