View Full Version : What meal time is hardest for you?

omlettes, maybe? I don't know if you have any qualms about eggs or not... but you can rip up bits of veggie slices and such to put in omlettes... I've never tried it, but I imagine if the pieces aren't too big, they're probably pretty good. plus, you can put anything in an omlette... probably even disguise some good-for-you stuff you don't like

Dinner is the hardest for me. My bf is an omni, and I try to make something both of us can enjoy. I usually end up making two dinners. Ack! BUT, if he wants meat, he has to cook it himself.

My motto is: you don't like what I cooked? Then cook something yourself.
You could make the base meals the same (ie a seasoned rice dish). He can cook up his meat and you can cook up your protein.

... or you could have me over to cook pancakes for you. they come out looking an awful lot like burnt chicken, I'm told.
eta: if you're confused by the burnt chicken comment, here (http://www.veggieboards.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=5448&catid=member&imageuser=4608) is what my pancakes looked like.

Mmmmm..... how about a perfectly toasted bagel with lite (or tofu) cream cheese and thickly sliced tomato on top, with a sprinkling of sea salt? That is one of my ALL TIME favorite breakfasts. Give it a try, its FABULOUS. ;-)

 cream cheese
See cheese whiz post
Perhaps I should just do as Mollygoat said and live off brown rice and plain vegetables for a month or so. Maybe I'd get green poop out of it at least. :junk:

I don't understand why you can't have cream cheese? Or at least the tofu version? Is it lactose intolerance, or a milk allergy? :-( So sad :-( Even if its just a salt bagel with tomato, its still delicious. ;-)

The heartburn list as of this weekend: Garlic, tomatoes, raw crunchy vegetables, all cabbage-family vegetables, pepper, salt, most soys, most dairy (except skim milk), flaxseeds, all nuts, garlic powder, onions, chickpeas, leeks, mayo, french fries (), potato chips... I'm missing something from this list.
I went through it before; it's due to my underlying digestive issues. I took a medication for a few months which was just crap (but it did work) and I ate the most depressing diet on earth.

Olives! I knew there was something  Today, I had 5 extra strength Rolaids so I could have a normal day of food. I love how Rolaids taste at least ;)
It goes into phases, so this should pass. Although, it's been getting worse lately, so I may have to do the elimination diet. Oh how depressing it is.
I have a prob with breakfast sometimes lunch I have to think of things that will travel well while im riding to work but mostly its breakfast since I get bored with eating the same things everyday.

You're too difficult. :p I take it bagels or tortilla wraps are a no? You've still got avocado...and potato. Squash?

I did bagels until I couldn't have peanut butter anymore. :)
Avocado for breakfast?? That's just wrong :p

Well, I like it spread on toast, personally. And not a whole avocado. It's also good with pretzels.
That really sucks that you can't have peanut butter anymore.

I never thought of it with pretzels!

What about rice dishes?
It may be related to the fact that I'm a college kid but I love having seasoned rice and veggies wrapped in a taco shell for breakfast. :lick:

Rice for breakfast? Then again, I used to eat chinese food for breakfast....but that was when I was young. Now, I'm old and senile. Suppose I could fry up a bit of brown rice and an egg for breakkie tomorrow....
Grain puddings are too fibre rich for me (like the beans); they make me sick.

Eating out is the hardest for me, because everyone else is eating meat and it ruins my hunger.
Sorry to hear about your troubles, FT! Have you tried...fruit salad for breakfast? Or is that too acidic? Sometimes it's easier for me to eat fruit in the morning because I sometimes have troubles with eating anything but fruit in the morning.

I'm too scared to look at the pancakes.
I had a 1 cup fruit salad for breakfast this morning (melons), but it gave me heartburn. I used to be able to eat it, so I think the fruit is a new thing.
I'm just going to go back on the allergy diet. I don't need to think on that. Just brown rice and potatoes for a while

Sorry for your troubles, Krista :(
I have a hard time with lunches. I just do. When I'm not working or in school full time I usually skip lunch...when I am working/in school, I have a hard time eating in the middle of the day for some reason. I think it has something to do with feeling rushed.
I would do sandwiches if I could find any decent spelt bread in NYC  Um, hellow Whole Foods? I need my f'ing spelt bread!

I like sandwiches - hummus or mayo/cheese, with lettuce/spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, and sprouts.
I have a problem with eating in the middle of the day b/c I forget :o
