I was camping this weekend and I spent ALL DAY in a canoe. I never realized how sore your arms can get from paddling! Then, one of the channels (the campground is 9 lakes all hooked together by natural channels. It's really cool) was clogged with algae and duckweed... very hard to paddle through. At one point, I had to get out and pull my canoe through it... gross! Then I hiked upwards of 5 miles... yay me! It was a fun weekend. This is kind of a useless post, but I think camping rocks, so ... yeah

20 minutes on the exercise bike, 20 minutes on the treadmill, 10 minutes on the cross trainer. Plus a few weights and situps. :vebo: It's so nice to exercise regularly again.

Sunday:
Mission: Climb a 14-er (http://www.14ers.com/photos/MtLincoln/p_mtlincoln.html)
Attempt: not bad for a first try
Outcome: failed
Ay... Well, I made it about 3/4 of the way up...my hiking partner went all the way up to the ridge and then the peak (which he said wasn't much farther) but...the point where I stopped, I was done. I didn't have the physical or mental stamina left and I started seeing some spots :worried: so I sat on a mountain side for an hour waiting for him to come down and then we descended...
We were out for 8 hours, with about 4.5 hours of uphill hiking/climbing, 2 downhill...it was terrifying for me in many parts but I'm glad I did it and 3/4 of the way up...a 2500-feet elevation gain for me...wasn't bad for my first time at hiking up a mountain of that size. However, today I am sore sore sore! sunburned in random patches...and exhausted!! :p
:nigel: Cheers!

Wow PV - great rock climb! Feel better tho.
Saturday was a pretty intensive practice: included a warm up of running, a LOT of regular and backwards push-ups, a LOT of sit-ups, stretching and dancing.
I think its just been a while since I practiced so hard (i.e. my arms, neck and legs are STILL stiff.) :P
Hopefully 90 min. jazz dance class tonight. We'll see.

Today:
45 minutes elliptical, ab work, 1/2 hour trampoline.

I joined a gym. :) I'm on my free trial now. They have classes there that I'm going to try out as well, but I didn't do that today because I wanted to see how badly I've fallen off the fitness ladder. So I stretched, did intervals on the treadmill for 25 minutes (week 3 of the couch to 5k plan from coolrunning.com) then had a long post-run stretching session.

Due to my bike wreck this past Saturday, I'm having to sit this week out and heal. :( I may get some walking in, but I think I should refrain from biking or running til I'm healed.

I made it to my 90 min. jazz dance class yesterday. YAY! I didn't pick up the end combination too well, lol, but I had a LOT of fun and a GREAT work out.
Today = 60 min. dance practice. Plus, I did some crunches and leg work this morning and last night.
Go Hamsters!!

PV, that sounds like a heck of a hike! Don't feel bad about not making it to the top, it sounds like it was really, really tough.
Brandon, I read about your accident in the patch and I'm glad you are okay! I hope your bumps and bruises go away soon!
Annabanana, you are becoming a monster on that bike of yours! Have you ever considered a century ride? :)
Elena, whoo hooo for joining the gym. Ahhh. Air conditioning. I bet espcially in the summer that will be nice.
Shadowleee, virtue, and CK, awesome hamstering!
As for me,
2 mile run and
2 different one mile walks with the dog today (so 2 miles walking)

Virtue, I'll be starting swing dance lessons soon! I am sooo excited. Me and my friend will be going together. I used to take a big group figure skating lesson for many years and it was so fun! Group lessons rock.
Today: 45 minutes elliptical, swimming, 8 mile bike ride.

CK - Oh wow that sounds like so much fun!! If I could get a partner to go, I would definitely try swing dance lessons. I love group dance lessons!! :D You meet new people, its a GREAT work-out, plus my jazz dance teacher is hot (that always helps ;) ). But yeah, its so much more fun that just getting the tape for a home workout (tho thats cool too).
Anyway, I'm sure you and your friend will have a blast. Have fun!!

Annabanana, you are becoming a monster on that bike of yours! Have you ever considered a century ride? :)
 Perhaps in the future...I should probably work on getting my mileage up more first :D I bet if I did it with people it would be even better since I usually ride alone. Good idea, though. Hmmm, another goal to work towards :shifty:
Today I did ~5 mile run, 12.5 mile bike ride, and some walking with the dogs.

So many goals, so little time. Don't you ever feel like that? :)
They have lots of bike clubs around here. Now that I'm off work for the summer I am noticing when I am out walking or running that it seems like the bike clubs meet every day. I am always being passed by a pack of them. They have a big triathlon club around here too. Some of those bikers are probably from there. I'm sure they must have something in your area... what state do you live in?

Sat: 4 mile run
Sun: 11 mile bike
Mon: 6 mile run, 1 mile swim
Today: 12 mile bike, 4 mile run, 45 min free weights, abs & back
I have poison ivy all over my legs...making biking and running very uncomfortable :( But I think it's getting better anyway.

I'm sure they must have something in your area... what state do you live in?
I'm in Illinois, and there are some bike clubs around here...actually several because we have some really nice riding areas. But all those club-people are so, like, fast and serious :p I look at their schedules and they're like, "Easy 30 mile ride, 20 mph" I'm not quite at that level...yet. And I could probably use a faster bike, too. Another goal!!! :D
I think a group ride would be fun, though. The miles would probably seem to fly by even faster, like running with a group!
Good job with getting your puppy's endurance up - he'll be running miles with you before you know it, right?
Ouch, ND...poison ivy :( It must hurt to swim, too...I'd think the water would irritate it. Good thing it's getting better!
Anyway, I ran 6 miles, did some strides, and walked about a mile with the dogs. I'm off for a nap now too :)

One hour of Body Flow class. It starts with tai chi, moves on to yoga, then pilates, then yoga again, leading to shavasana/meditation. I was trying it for the first time today, and I love it. :smitten:

Anna, I know what you mean about the bike clubs! My husband and I were looking into one but no way could we do that stuff. Especially my husband who is overweight and out of shape. I don't want to discourage him! They do have the "just for fun group" as they call it but they meet Sunday mornings unfortuently (when I meet my club for our long run).
Today: 10 miles on the bike machine (in the comfort of my air conditioning, no way was I going out in those 100+ temps :p)
plus upper body weights
question about weights: how much weight would you use and how many reps if you are just starting out? I just want to tone as I hate my arms. I used to lift weights when I was on the rowing team as an undergrad but that was to bulk up, not tone. :) Ever since I finished with rowing, that muscle just turned to flab.
Also, I have a calcuim deposit in my right wrist. Is it normal for it to grow when I lift weights? (that appeared during my rowing days)
