I'd be dead <corpse smilie>.
We hiked a mountain summit yesterday. The top was a ramble over rocks. About 10 metres from the top, I felt a sudden, stabbing pain in my knee. We stopped and ate, hoping the pain would cease, but it did not. It took forever to get back down, as I was limping, and to make it even better, the back of the other knee is now all out of joint b/c of the first gimpness.
So I'm home, stiff, high on ibuprofen and pain killers. But I did it :) Sat on the top of the mountain. OK, 10 metres from it, but come on. Close enough :notvegan:

Heyyyy we're twins! Sort of...
I attempted to hike a 14-er yesterday and I made it 3/4 of the way up and that was all...it took soo much out of me mentally and physically. Today I am exhausted.
I, too, had the sore/wobbly knees coming down...they definately absorbed a lot of the impact...they feel a little better today...no pain-killers for me but I am sore.
Good job on the ascent!! :)
:nigel: Cheers!

PV, I read about your trip in the hamsters. It sounds like it was intense. What an elevation gain!
FT, I hope your knee feels better soon! Have you ever had that problem while hiking before?

No, but it was raining - hard. I have arthritis in the knee that hurt...you can see the trend :D
Thankfully, my hiking poles took a lot of the damage.
They don't hurt nearly as bad today. Hoping anther day or two and I'll up and going again.

stretch out and definately cycle a bit to get the blood flowing in/through the knees. Do you have a muscle imbalance between quads and hamstrings? do you have good arches in your feet and lifted ankles? both of these will help maintain knee stability.

It was a stupidity injury, Zoe  Biking still hurts too much, but I think by Friday I'll be top draw again.

well, stupidity injuries are the worst. even so, muscle balance and blood flow are important. :) so, work on those. yeah, work it!
wait, that belonged in the breast thread. . . . i'm still wearing my shades for ya.

You slut :p
I'm off the ibuprofen at least. That stuff sucks; it makes me bloat so badly.
