The 18th was my Birthday. I prefer not to "celebrate" but to let it just kind of pass by and not mention it.
This year my SO got up at the crack of dawn. I noticed because I rolled over at 6:30 and he wasn't there. I assumed he decided to go diving. Later he walks in carrying a huge bouquet of Day Lilies. Day Lilies are my favorite flower and he traveled 20 miles away to find a huge field where we had seen them several years before. He handpicked them for me. He also picked up my favorite Starbuck’s coffee and went to the grocery store to buy ingredients for a wonderful Vegan Dinner, which he made for me. He chose the recipes from the latest issue of my VegNews Magazine, Grilled Portobello Mushroom burgers in Milano Mayonnaise, Grilled Corn on the Cob, Zesty Garlic & Herb Marinade Grilled Veggies, & Almond Butterscotch Blondies. In years past we would generally go out to dinner, but now that I am Vegan it is much harder to find good food from a restaurant in my area. The food he made would have put any restaurant to shame, it was so decadent!
To top all this off he ordered me a “House of Pain” new work out bag (my old one was really ratty, but I would never replace it myself unless it fell apart) with “Vegan” embroidered on it. And some Eco String Bags for my shopping!
I was able to spend my birthday with my family (he and my 4 children). Unlike other people I know, I actually enjoy spending time with my children on the daily basis.
The amount of effort put into this has me reeling. No one has ever done anything like that for me before. It makes me realize how truly blessed I am!
