I went to a huge bike store today and bought some necessary items and now I really want a new bike because I saw so many nifty ones. Except I just bought a new one 2 months ago ... so the next best thing is seeing what other people have :D

So what kind of bike do you have, and what do you use it for?

I have a Raleigh C30 (http://eriksbikeshop.com/site/images/library/large/raleigh_c30m_blu_04_m.jpg) (cross/hybrid bike) and use it for training for and racing in duathlons. I also use it to get from here to there on a daily basis as transportation.

I have a Trek Mountain Track 800. Here is a picture (http://www.jet.com.br/Design/multibike/Produto/trek%20800220.gif) but mine is silver, not blue. It's old, and beat up and heavy but I still love Silver. She's gotten me from A to B and back again more times than I can count. :)

I have a Specialized mountain bike that I've slowly been turning into a road bike. It's a weird mess of things now, but I like it. :)

I have three bikes. Two I got used and my first bike I bought new.

First, New: Novara Buzz (decent urban bike, comfortable, smooth ride.)
2nd, Used: 19?? Specialized Allez (Nice little road bike, weighs somewhere under 20lbs, not sure if it's aluminum or steel frame, but I'd like to say aluminum by its weight. Still has original shimano 105 components that BADLY need to be replaced)
3rd, Used: 1986 Schwinn Collegiate (3 speed cruiser, all original parts plus two baskets, love it!)

I have a Merida MTB. Its not flash or fancy but it does the job. I think it has a magnesium frame (makes it a bit lighter), but other than that its nothing special. Cost me $500 (or 50hrs of hard manual labour over my summer). I want a better bike now, but I should be cycling a bit more seriously before I trade up.

Mmm...I would love to get a Trek or Specialized bike...

Y'all have some nice bikes...keep 'em coming. I'm looking at local classifieds right now even though I realize there's a slim chance I'll actually buy another bike anytime soon. It would be good to have the money for this kind of thing :D

Yep. That should last you a good couple hours, at least :D Or you could make yourself a unicycle and only have to deal with one wheel ;)

I've got something that looks like this one

http://www.hetrijwielpaleis.nl/uploads/350/Raleigh_Continental.JPG

Drum brakes (good in wet weather)
7 gear rear hub (internal gearing)
closed chain case (low maintainance)

This is my main transport, I have a car that I use once every two/three weeks.

There is a handicapped man in town that has one like that, only the foot pedals are at arm length and he bikes like that.

Ooh, nifty! (not the handicap, the foot pedal thing) Sounds interesting. And he must have some powerful arms :)

Trek 1110...old enough that its not really in production anymore (from like 99 or so). Drop down shifters, aluminum frame, the equivalent to shimano tiaga components...

I'm far from the uber-cyclist (it's been MONTHS since I've gotten on my bike), but I really do like the bike I have. It's a Gary Fisher. The "Mamba". :D
