View Full Version : Bear cub found dead in Vancouver dumpster..
I dont have a link to the story,as I watched it on the news.If someone has it..please share it.
A large bear cub was found brutally chopped, mauled and disposed of in a Vancouver dumpster behind a condo building.
The news showed the brutilized body and face of this baby black bear. His nose was hanging off.
At the end of the news cast, they said Wildlife Authorities,Police and the SPCA were investigating,but...becuase it's bear hunting season,no charges will likely be laid.
I am so upset right now. This world is so disgusting.Who should I write or complain to?What can I do?This is just soooo wrong. You should have seen this little guy.He was barely recognisable. :( I am broken hearted.
:( :(

Things just get worse, the scum of the world have little to fear from those with good hearts and developed minds so they do what they want to animals with little concern of repercussions, that poor helpless little baby. If we martyred ourselves like the suicide bombers in Iraq, went out into the woods during hunting season and eliminated these bastards there'd be far fewer going out, I'd think...oh, they'd just shoot us on sight I suppose, what can one do to save the helpless from the scum of the Earth.
Has bad simply won out over good on our planet? It sure seems so :(
Well,I thought about it all night.Today everyone involved in this case is getting a peice of my mind, and I am going to try to find people to help me get this case investigated and CHARGED.
This was a cub,so it should be changed, beyond that, the city is NOT aplace to be hunting bears. It MUST be illegal to weild knives and guns in the city~thus it must be illegal that this bear is dead.
Also, the bears' teeth and paws were missing,so it is possible that those remains will be used as 'chinese' remedy.
At least I can complain and have my voice heard about this bear.URG.

Making noise is the only way to get it off the ground and keep it there. Do you know of or work with animal rights/welfare groups up there? Write a letter to the biggest local newspaper, that couldn't hurt. Say you're afraid such a psychopath might be a danger to children too, that will get some people to take notice, for sure.
Ugh, so horrible, seems like hurting others is the basis of being human :( And people make fun of us for being compassionate, what a crappy world.

Bear hide found in dumpster in False Creek
June 9, 2005 - 11:46 pm
By: Claudia Kwan
Conservation officers are now investigating whether a black bear hide dumped in False Creek on Thursday came from a legal kill or not. The kill is recent, and raises some disturbing questions. The relatively small hide still had its head attached, but all of the paws had been cut off. Conservation Officer Colin Copeland says black bear hunting season is still open until June 15th, so it's possible someone decided the trophy simply wasn't good enough. It's also possible someone is selling the bear parts illegally or has killed a bear cub. Copeland is asking witnesses who live by Charleson Park, near 6th and Willow, to come forward. He says if anyone in the area saw someone dropping off a black plastic to give them call. At the very minimum, it's illegal to dump a bear hide like this. If the bear was poached to be sold illegally, fines can be as high as $50-thousand. The toll-free number to call if you know anything about the dumping of this bear hide is 1-800-663-9453 (WILD).
one thing that i do in alberta, i dunno if you have it in bc or not. but i apply for a grizzly bear tag, i have not got one yet but its only been three tries. anyway, every year they give these tags out becuase slaughter's are only allowed to kill so many grizzlys a season. anyway i apply for this tag. and if i get it i rip it up. one less bear killed. thats the motivation for it at least.
Update: After calling our News stations,Spca and our Conservation Officers,I have been updated on the case. The Officer told me that the small hide found is that of a small black bear and not a 'cub' (yeah, right!)so he expects no charges to be laid,as it is hunting season. The only charge that could is 'illegal dumping' and that he had no suspects. When I pushed for further answers he told me that it was a city dumping issue and nothing more.I ended up having heated words with the Officer, becuase I could'nt belive it was only a city dumping issue. He then retracted.
What a bunch of jerks. And thats probably the end of the story. He supposes it was a Chinese person,as bear claw soup is popular in that culture.

Wow, really shows how much they care...a small bear but not a cub, what's that mean, a very young adult or something, dumb ass crap everywhere, poor thing suffers a painful, I'd imagine, and certainly an unnecessary death and it's just 'oh well', that should be the motto of humanity, 'Oh Well'...that's a good idea about applying for the bear permit and tossing it afterwards.

I like that one, dude. I will explore that with all the hunting and fishing licenses. I hope that they don't use the interest and applications as a justification to expand the whole procedure, though....do you know what I mean?

that is a great idea. but why would you be turned down?
i am turned down becuase there are a whole lotta people who want to hunt these things and a whole lota people apply. it is not driven by the people wanting the tickets its driven by the fact people want to kill these things and they are in very very limited numbers here. therefore they only let so many be killed a year.

Maybe eliminating the manufacture of guns in the first place would be an idea as well...

Gotcha. Good idea.
It's perfectly legal to brutalize animals as long as it's done for fun and profit. Recently in the US a goose with a large arrow sticking out of its body was discovered at a community waterway, still very much alive. It was captured and given vet care, but could not pull through. There was outrage among wildlife officials and the media and a promise to prosecute. Then it was discovered that the goose was struck by a hunter and escaped. The case was dropped like a hot potato.

i think the bear licenses are out of my price range. I looked up hunting in texas they have these game ranches where people can hunt african antelopes, ibexes, zebras. I wish I could shut those guys down.
if your refering to what i said. its free to apply. free to get the ticket.
