Disney said it would hand out leaflets to people booking banquets, explaining the cruelty of shark fishing.
Disney has resisted calls to drop the luxury dish from its menus because of the damage done to shark populations by intensive farming methods.
It has now also pledged to buy shark's fins from responsible suppliers.
And that makes it okay? :stinkeye:

um, i can't see how a supplier can be deemed responsible. no matter what, the sharks are getting their limbs chopped off...
Talk about a mixed message. We offer it on the menu, give you a pamphlet talking you out of ordering it if you do, but we'll give it to you anyway. Oh, but we use "responsible suppliers" so we'll keep it on the menu despite having told you it's irresponsible. :dizzy:
Could they be any more contradictory?
And of course they're doing all of this out of a sense of cultural sensitivity. UGH!
That way they can have their cake (or shark fin soup) and eat, it too.
Apparently they're convinced this is a good business decision. They'll get lots of people ordering it despite the pamphlets they'll hand out, but now they can't say they don't know about and don't care about the complaints about it.
