I just found out the other day that the facial skin care products I use are made from companies that do animal testing. I need to find a new product line to use.. I'm familiar with some of them out there. Here are the ones I've tried..
The Body Shop - I know they don't do animal testing, but I do know that they use lots of chemicals in their products. The products that I've used from the body shop really didn't impress me. I figured that if I'm spending money on my skin, I want the best I can get for that amount of money.
Burt's Bees - I like some of their moisturizers, but the facial care stuff didn't do anything spectacular.
Lush - I really like Lush products, but they too use alot of chemicals and the amount of product you get is small. Not to mention, the expensive shipping charges :(
Those are the main animal-cruelty-free products I've used. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried Suki Naturals? I like them so far.

Kiss My Face is one to try. Before you try any though, research here. It is free, and will save you a ton of money.

Ooh, I forgot about Kiss My Face! I think I've used some of their products in the past, but it's been so long..

I'd say check your local HFS. The last time I was at mine, they had some locally made soaps and stuff. I didn't have much money with me and I was already stocked on stuff. (Which I have recently learned are not cruelty free. Blah. At least I got most of them for free or over half off thanks to sales combined with coupons.)
I digress.
Thaks for the suggestions, guys. I'm going to look into them too.

I've become a big fan of Origins. Pricier than some of the other brands, but well worth it IMHO.

Alba, too.
I pick 'em up at Whole Foods.

I'm such a huge Lush fan. They do use some chemicals, but if you inspect the ingredients carefully, it's not like every other word is a chemical. In fact, only the last word on my conditioner is a chemical: methylparaben.
However, I do understand why you would avoid chemicals, but I honestly haven't had a lot of success with products that are strictly chemical-free (I haev uber-dry skin as well as the occassional hormonal outbreak, so it's hard to find that balance).
I have tried Suki Naturals, which someone mentioned above, and I do like a few of their products, but not as much as I like Lush. ^_^;;;

I need a new facial skin care product, too. Soap's not cutting it, and the last one I had was too strong. I'm probably going to try Arbonne, soon.

I've been using Suki products lately too, and I really like them. Especially the toner. My skin is very sensitive, and Suki seems to work well with me. Plus, I like the fact that they are paraben free.

I really like the facial moisturizer by "the green beaver company". They don't test on animals and don't use animal products other than bee products (no lanolin, collagen, etc..), if you're fine with that.
They are the closest to all natural I've seen in a drugstore, and quite affordable. The ingredients in the lotion are: Water, wax, vegetable glycerin, jojoba oil, avocado oil, beeswax, shea butter, grapefruit extract, grape seed extract, green tea extract, vitamin E, aloe extract, sodium borate, lactic acid (vegetable source).

I was thinking about experimenting with Jan Marini C-ESTA Cream to help out my skin problem :( I've heard some nice promises about this product; however, I am a bit skeptical about it. Do you know anything about Jan Marini or C-ESTA? Would you recommend me to use it?
Also I was trying to find a nice place to get it. So far google comes up with the following:
http://store.skin--one.com/cestacream1oz.html
http://www.makemeheel.com/mmh/product.do?id=11156
http://www.acnewizard.com/product.pl?id=239
Do you have any experience with the above places? If you know of a really nice place to shop for this kind of products, I would be infinitely grateful if you could post it here.

I am not familiar with that product line, so naturally I had to check it out :p The only link that worked for me is the last one. I didn't search around that website, but you will want to find out what the return policy is if you're skeptical. You didn't mention what your skin problems were, but I'm going to assume by the last link that you struggle with acne or acne scars?
I took a look at the ingredients and a couple things concern me. First off, it appears that there is a pretty high level of chemical preservatives in there (parabens). They are listed in the first half of the ingredient list. Second, I noticed the ingredient "hydrolyzed glycosaminoglycans". I am not a cosmetic chemist but from what I have learned, glycosaminoglycans are referred to as the "cement" that holds your collagen and elastin together (think of a net and glycosaminoglycans fill in the holes of the net). Anyway, I would question the source of that ingredient (could be plant or animal source from my understanding). I'm curious how well that ingredient absorbs into the skin and how beneficial it is. I'll have to look it up. Many of the other ingredients are good ones -- proven to provide results.
If you're really interested in trying a vitamin C product, check out my website and look at the NutriminC RE9 line. It's vegan, cruelty free, patent pending in the US and Switzerland, and it really works. It is also returnable if it is unsatisfactory for you. So yeah, I'm recommending my website as a really nice place to shop for this kind of product. :o

Hi Krikun! Just thought I'd write and let you know I am currently using the C-Esta serum and really like it! I've had acne since I was 12 (I'm now 35) and I've had really good results with the serum in along with microdermabrasion. I buy my serum thru my esthatician (for $75), and it usually lasts about 5 weeks if I use it morning and evening. If I get any breakouts, it's now limited to about one pimple every other month, which heals quickly (2-3 days versus the old 1-2 weeks), so I'm really happy with the serum. I think they also have the cream, which is what you're asking about, but I've never tried that...my skin is too oily. The serum itself has kept my skin fairly hydrated, so I don't need any extra cream/lotion. I don't know what kind of skin you have. If you have any questions, please ask. I've tried lots of stuff, and this has so far worked for me. Hope this helps! flygirl

Oh! I'll just throw this in here. I've found quite a few good things at Trader Joes - and they're starting to carry more and more natural, organic, and cruelty free products (at least a larger selection than they had in the past)! I haven't been there in a while though (in the face care section at least) but maybe it's worth checking out if you're on a budget. :)
