I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of some kind of earth friendly carpet freshner? I have a stinky puppy, and the carpet gets that pet smell (despite frequent vacuuming) after a while. I don't want to expose my dog to any icky chemicals. I've heard that baking soda is a good deodorizer, but I don't know how well it would do with carpet. Any suggestions are welcome.

Baking soda works awesome on carpet. Just sprinkle it around, leave it for an hour or so and vacuum up.

I was thinking of using baking soda and lavendar and mixing it in. But would the lavender show up since the baking soda is a deodorizer?

My HFS sells air fresheners...perhaps Seventh Generation makes a carpet freshener? They have an awful lot of different products.

I use baking soda. The last box I had was from Wal-Mart. I now refuse to use Arm and Hammer as they aren't cruelty free. (I can't imagine why a company that makes natural products has to test on animals.)

I'd say go to natural foods store. I'd be interested in finding out what you find out.

I use OdoBan in place of CarpetFresh and Febreeze. It's a mix of eucalyptus and 67 wildflowers. It smells awesome and is environmentally safe. The only place I've seen it sold is Sam's Club though.
