Well, I've heard of eating people (cannibals), but I wasn't aware people could be smoked as well. :p

Mod note: Edited the title of the thread and moved to the Health Forum

Non-Mod note: I'm off to a good start! I had two cigarettes left so I smoked one this morning and I'll smoke the other one this afternoon. and no more. I'm doing all my laundry (getting rid of the stench), cleaning out the car, getting rid of ashtrays, and putting my world back together again. The last couple months with the show and the cigarettes were pretty hellish. Let's hear it for new beginnings on the New Moon!

Thanks for moving and changing the title so it makes more sense!

Good for you Randy. I actually wanted to ask you something . . . does it make sense to smoke just one if you really want one, or does that just make you fall into your old pattern?

- actually never mind . . . I just read some stuff and that's a BAD BAD thing to do! I'm an addict:(

trust me. once you've QUIT, you can never ever ever smoke "just one cigarette"... How are you holding up? Don't forget to breathe...

Yup, I absolutely can!!!!!

I've quit before (semi-successfully, made it 5 years), so I'm quite familiar with the process. And I know very well how much better I feel when I'm not smoking. (I've only been smoking again for a couple months, so the differences are very clear)

Happy to be getting rid of the evil death sticks!
Randy

I'm eating a lot . . .

and that's a whole lot better than smoking. Not worth beating yourself up about. Be sure to drink lots of water, and fresh juices if you can. You're doing a detox, and anything you can do to help get the crap out of your system for good will help.

Apple Cider Vinegar - a tablespoon mixed in water makes a refreshing drink and it's a great blood purifier.

Aerobic exercise to sweat the junk out

Detox teas from the HFS

Take lots of vitamins

IMPORTANT - when you're having a rough moment, remind yourself WHY YOU'RE DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING

As the saying goes, a journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. :)

Rain- hope it's going well for you.

Randy- You are the man! Your attitude is great, and it sounds like you are well on your way.

Alfie- like Randy said, don't sweat it if you are snacky for a while. It's better to do that than to light up. I put on about 12 lbs. when I quit, and though it took a while, I got rid of it all. Granted, I ate crap that I didn't need (chocolate, chips, pretzels, Reese's cups, etc.) and not healthy stuff. Either way, it helped me to not smoke so I don't think it was a bad thing at all.

You all are doing great! Keep keeping on, and I look forward to more updates here!

Yes everyone can do it!! I watched my boss go through the stop-smoking process...she had straws in her mouth constantly for the first week or so. If that helps, roll with it :D

:nigel: Cheers!

With me it was the habit I had to break. I really didn't crave it per say. Every evening during the summer I used to sit outside at the end of the day (I didn't smoke indoors) and smoke. When I went outside to enjoy the evening I was ready to light up, I had to supress the urge to do so. If they day was going badly (stressful) I was ready to take a break and puff a cigarette, the urges passed easier everyday, after two weeks I really didn't think about it anymore.

I do have nicotine patches just in case. But it's the habit that's hard to reak for me too. Waking up in the morning and having one with my cup of coffee/tea. So what I did today was wake up late!! That way I was in such a rush, didn't have time for the morning smoke!

When I quit (in January '05), I thought the morning one was going to be the hardest to go without, but that went away when I realized I got ten more minutes in bed as a result. :) I've never been a morning person and it's been another nice benefit of giving the stuff up.

Best to all of you who are quitting. It ain't easy but it's oh so worth it!
