Two nights ago, we moved my boyfriend's cat into our new apartment. Rascal tends to freak out at new surroundings so we left him in the bedroom for the evening to hide under the bed. Around 2am, he woke us up with yowling, and pawing at the blankets, which is what he usually does when he thinks its time for us to wake up and feed him. Except that his food dish was full and anything we did to calm him down wasn't working (holding him, playing with him, etc...)
The pads of his feet were burning up, as was his head (nose, ears). In fact, he seemed to be radiating a whole lot more heat than normal.
Since it was our first night in this apartment and the phone wasn't hooked up yet, we couldn't call anyone. After about 2 hours, Rascal nosed his way under the sheets and curled up at my feet and stayed there until about noon the next day.
In the morning (when we were all thinking straighter), he was fine, just a little nervous about the new space. And today, he's walking around like he owns the place.
He had his yearly vaccinations about two days before we moved him, could it have been a reaction to that? Is it possible that he was having a panic attack due to all of the changes (he fears change. and there's a lot happening recently)?
Has anyone heard of cats getting fevers? Any recommendations on how to deal with them?
