An animal Rights group here in Vancouver is having a film-fest today. They are playing Peaceable Kingdom.Should I go and watch this movie?I am SUPER sensitive, and of course I dont need to be told to be veggie..I already am.
Has anyone seen this?Any advice?

You should watch it. It really is brilliant. Then show it to others.
It makes me a little teary eyed, but I don't think that is a reason not to watch it.
It isn't graphic like 'meat your meat', thought there are a few moments that will make you feel emotional. I say watch it at least once.

Absolutely everyone should see this! It is awesome. And like lauratiara said, you should share it with everyone.
Since you are already vegetarian I would advise you to not watch it or be really careful because it is graphic at times and could give you nightmares (because you are so sensitive). I cried through some of it and fast-forwarded through other parts. Be really on guard after Howard Lyman is done because there are some gross parts after that.
I would highly recommend it as a video to show omnis who are thinking about veg*nism.
Thanks Goatee.I really needed the truth on this video.I am so highly senstive, that nightmares and visions of animal suffering literally never leave me.So it is best i dont watch it.
Thanks.I thought maybe it was a family type movie..I guess not.

Seriously, It is not very graphic. I wouls say it IS a family movie. I have been to and helped with screenings, and all ages are there.
It might make you ditch those couple eggs out of your fridge, but I think you will be fine. I am really sensitive, and I can watch it with no prob.
I bought the DVD from PETA last month but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. :worried:

I found the movie worth watching. However, even though I am a Vegan I am not terrible sensitive and found some of the film disturbing. I could see how some really sensitive and already a veggie should stay away from it.
If you do want to see it at some point buy the video and have some supportive veg*ns with you who have already watched it and can tell you when some of the bad stuff is coming up.
There are no slaughter scenes (that I can recall) but lots of animal abuse.
You are already convinced. Focus on the positive and in building up a more peaceful world in ways that you feel good about.
It's very moving, but really not graphic by my standards. The most graphic part is a second's worth of chicken slaughter. And it really is a mere flash out of the whole movie.
I find this movie rather uplifting. I would recommend it to just about anyone.

Same here. I would recommend it to anyone also. I think seeing the positive things that are being done and can be done far outweigh the few unsettling parts. Visions of what I have seen never leave me either and for me, that is a good thing. It keeps me passionate about what I do. I also cry during certain parts of the dvd and I also don't think that is a bad thing. I would be more concerned about myself if i didn't cry over them.

That's how I feel. I don't think it's graphic at all. The beauty of Peaceable Kindgom is that intermingled with the sadness, are parts where an animal is rescued . . .and it kind of balances out.

It isn't graphic so much as it's sad. Scenes of sick, dying animals. For some that can be just as bad as slaughter. it isn't bloody. But it is sad and heartbreaking. There were a few parts I had trouble watching. I think it is effective because it isn't meant to shock. It goes deeper than just shocking the viewer. It really pulls at your heart when you look into the faces of these mistreated animals. It also has some very uplifitng scenes of rescued amimals that are very positive.

I've heard nothing but great things about this movie. But be sure to have some tissue paper handy, cause it's supposedly very touching

I haven't seen it or Meet your Meat either. I still have pictures in my head from years ago from Peta's magazine that I will never shake. Just thinking about those images makes me cry.
If you're as sensitive as I am, I'd suggest not seeing it.

If you can make it through "Falling From My Family Tree" without ending up face down on the floor, you're are stronger person then I am.

I've had this dvd for about the past 4 or 5 months and I still haven't watched it. I keep thinking that I'll just traumatize myself for nothing and I don't need to be more depressed than necessary. But I think you guys have convinced me to give it a try.

I checked out Peacable Kingdom out of my library and watched it today and I am not so sure it was a great idea. I cried way more than I thought I would and it has made me *really* angry.
I had to go to the grocery store after I watched it and I felt like I wanted to punch eveyone with sausages and hamburger and chicken in their carts. I am usually not like this - I even feel like I can never like anyone that I know who continues to eat meat. I am not usually so crazy. But it has made me resolved to try harder to eat vegan.
I am sure it will fade but right now I feel like :grr:

I hope it doesn't fade... They suffer on those farms whether we remember them or not, and people who know forget, and other things take precedence... But for those animals it's unending misery.
It's easier to not remember the intensity of how they suffer, but it doesn't serve them when we let ourselves and others off the hook for participating in it...

I am a fairly new veg*n and still need to fuel my passion for this lifestyle occasionally. I would like to see it, but I dont want to buy it, and netflix doesnt have it. Any suggestions?

I read You Don't Need Meat by Peter Cox seven months ago, and it's a pretty hard-hitting book. Just remembering the eyewitness descriptions of what went on still squeezes tears from me even now. I don't think I could possibly watch a film meant to make that same sort of impact. I would be traumatized for years, and to what purpose? I'm already working on cutting all animal products out of my life.
If I ever find myself backsliding on my journey to veganism, I might consider it...but I think I would probably read every book I could find before I'd sit down to one of those films.

To be honest I don't see the point of potentially traumatising yourself when you don't need convincing anyway. I think these things are handy to have if you feel you need more motivation, or are tempted to "slip up" but otherwise, why put yourself through it?
I know what awful things go on, and in my own way (by being veggie) I try and remove myself from it. I don't see the benefit in upsetting myself by watching stuff like this.
I haven't watched these movies either, for the same reasons. My husband occasionally watches those "Animal Precinct" shows on Animal Planet, and they make me so upset and angry I can't sleep! I remember when I got my Vegetarian Starter Kit, the booklet had some graphic pictures in it.....and I can't get them out of my mind. Anytime someone asks me why I went vegetarian, the first thing that pops into my head is those pictures.
I guess if I ever get the urge to go back to being omni, I can use these movies to set me straight again...

I have trouble watching Animal Cops on the Animal Planet cable channel without getting emotional. I also can't bring myself to look at any of the graphic images that PETA or other animal rights groups have posted. I just can't handle seeing those types of things. I'd love to see Peacable Kingdom, but am not so sure I could handle it.
