I have my first yoga class tonight!! :nana: ... :smitten:

I work until 5 P.M.; my class starts at 5:45 and goes until 7:15.

Now I *know* I am going to be hungry; we were all out of fruit at my house and I was rushing this morning and grabbed a Luna bar as a sort of (just in case).

I know I'm also supposed to go on an empty (or nearly) empty stomach, but I generally eat a snack around 5 or so and I don't want my tummy growling in a room full of quiety bendys :p

So is a Luna bar okay? I also have some cereal, crackers, and baked chips in my desk at work...again, all out of fruit and the grapes I brought will probably be my mid-morning snack. For future reference, what's a good thing to munch on before the class (to prevent the growling)? Thanks to anyone who responds :)

:nigel: Cheers!

I find that the emptier my stomach is, the better, for yoga. By that I don't mean 5 hours with no food, but having a light meal 2 hours before class. Vegetables, tofu, and nothing that's going to make my sweat stinky like onions or garlic. Light, mild-tasting foods. A Luna bar is probably fine (I've never eaten one before, though)

Pseudo - I usually take jazz dance classes at this dance studio at least once a week, and I've seen some physically fit ladies eat as much as 1/2 subway sandwich before class and others usually have an energy/granola/protein type bar right before class. So, I think you're safe with the luna bar. It all depends on your body and how you feel. I wouldn't recommend eating anything too hefty right before class tho (not that you would). You wanna make sure you feel light and flexible before yoga.

Oh and in case some were wondering, other classes take place at the dance studio I go to (s.a. yoga :), pilates, modern, tap, etc.) so the ex. I gave is pretty relevant. Have fun at class - I have to miss mine's today. :( Since I have to do videotaping for this instructional video tonight. Should be fun tho.

you'll be fine if you eat it at 5. it should take you through class.

next time, consider tomatoes, cucumbers, oranges, kiwi fruit, etc. something watery. ok? :)
