yippeee some good news ! http://denver.bizjournals.com/denver/stories/2005/05/30/daily8.html
Pretty nice. I imagine the people who buy eggs at Wild Oats will sleep a little better now.
I still won't buy eggs anymore, though.

Hopefully they're not now kept in huge, crammed, ammonia-filled warehouses - which is one way to do "free-range" - they really aren't much better in some aspects.
This is from the article that people might take note of:
Approximately 98 percent of eggs sold in the United States come from birds confined in what are called "battery cages," which are so small the animals cannot spread their wings.
"Ethical vegetarians" should be cognizant of where their eggs come from. http://www.cok.net/lit/freerange.php

I hope this gets the attention of a few people in the egg industry. It's one thing when something's easy to ignore, it's another thing when it isn't.

That's great!! I buy Organic Valley eggs from Wild Oats...they don't cage their birds.....and the eggs are aquired from small family owned and operated farms.
Thats great news, but yes I agreee with above poster,be sure your eggs are coming from 'free-range' and not 'free-run'..freerun is a big warehouse.
really grand news!!

This is, perhaps, a small step...but it's a step nonetheless.
I don't eat eggs but...if I did, I suppose I'd rather buy them from W*O than a "conventional" supermarket...I guess.
Still the shadiness of "free-range" vs. not seems a little too "consumer security-blanket"-y for me... :stinkeye:
