It hurt to sleep last night!

Apparently I totally waled on myself Sunday at the gym...assisted dips and pull-ups...yikes!

I hobbled to the bathroom this morning upon rising to the soreness in my calves from yesterday's lower work...

What will make it go away faster? I tried some stretching but it hurt so bad it made me naseus

:nigel: N/C for lactic acid.

Tylonel and lots of water, be sure your eating enough healthy calories to feed the muscles for faster healing.

Heat will make it feel better, moderate activity eg walking will make it go away faster.

What about running? (My upper body hurts the worst but today is cardio/abs day so...)

:nigel: Cheers.

Don't run, it'll make it worse. Walks are fine, but right now your body needs rest.

Have a hot bath, with maybe some bath salts, and soak for a while. Treat yourself to a nap, or just lay down flat on your bed or a couch, and listen to music or a book on tape for about a half hour. Eat foods that are rich in protein, drink lots of water.

A hot bath with make you feel great, but it can actually increase swelling around your muscles. If you really want to get rid of the pain, I would suggest a cold bath. It's a few minutes of discomfort, but you'll feel great afterwards!

if you overdo it, maybe a little ibuprofen... just hang in there and stick with it. it'll pay big dividends before you know it!

whatever you do, warm up well with the treadmill before you hit it hard. as i say this, i'm sitting here with one ankle twice the size from twisting it playing basketball :)

more streching. do it gently and let it slowly work itself out.

after heat, food, water, stretching and walking is best (then stretching again).

Well, you're probably better by today, but for future reference a magnesium/calcium supplement does wonders. It's almost as good as aspirin, and it actually feeds your muscles and assists in repairs. My doc gave them to me a few years go when I subluxated a rib and had very sore, spasming muscles. It's astounding how quickly and well they work.
