8.5 miles today.
Half marathon next weekend. This 1/2 is mostly downhill. We get bused up a mountain, get dropped off at a campground and we run down into the city. Sounds like fun to me. :D
Mark, nice racing weekend for you! Have fun.
Slynny, have fun with your kayak. What an awesome birthday gift!

45 minutes in-line skating today. I know I need to give myself some rest days esp. after racing, but I can't stand not getting outside and doing something active!

2.5 hours at the gym :nana:
approx. 1 hour upper work
1 hour cardio (500 calories)
approx. 30 minutes ab work >_<
:nigel: Cheers!
My friend is doing one of those breast cancer three day walks next week so I walked with her for 7-8 miles this afternoon. It was an hour and 50 minutes, so that's our best estimate.

getting ready to go walking :)
Hey Slynny...I'm back up to 8 miles as of today, I should be ready for 1/2 Marathon on Thanksgiving Day.
CaptainSwab - Cool that you are doing the LA Marathon in March...I'll probably be the last to arrive but if you will wait around several hours it would be fun to say "Hi" LOL!! Truly I wouldn't ask anyone to wait that long. HA!
I have done LA twice before but I was in my 40's and didn't do all that bad for my age group but I allowed my job to get the best of me and quit running. Hopefully I can fulfill these up-coming runs as they are both something that I really want to do at this stage in my life.

Hey Kathym, I've done LA twice before too. I'm a slower runner though too, although at a race like LA I usually come in right at the 50% range (about 5:25). I'm embarresed to post my time, but thats what I do it in. LA is a zoo. It's like a 26 mile long party actually.
Today I only had time for a 50 minute walk around the neighborhood. I was going to take a day off today but then decided that I felt like a walk.

Yesterday I ended up running 7 miles, and then at night playing "grab ball" with my brothers and their friends... it's a game that basically involves running around a lot and trying to throw a ball in a goal. We played for maybe an hour and 15 minutes, until my dad and brother had a collision and my brother just kind of bounced off my dad and was down for the count. oops.
Today will probably be swimming since my legs are pretty exhausted.

I have been slackin' - eek. :surprised Haven't substantially worked out since Saturday - but Sat. was a good day (60 min. dance practice, some wallking, played jump rope and volleyball at a picnic) :D.
I've been feeling especially bony lately tho (mostly my upper body) - its even made sleeping at night a bit uncomfortable physically, and someone even commented on my stick-like arms :(. So, I actually wasn't too broken up about slackin' these past 2 days unfortunately.
I have a 60 min. dance practice tonight tho. I'm not gonna let a little "bony-ness" get to me, especially when I know I'm healthy.
Go Hamsters!! (sorry for the rant)

i guess i'll put up what i did on sat, sun, and mon, and then see where today goes.
on saturday, i did yoga, went walking with friends, and then just 'hung out.' so, not much 'exercise' per se.
on sunday, i went on my first outdoor rock climbing trip. we hiked, climbed, and hiked back. total time--5 hours.
on monday, we walked/hiked for 3 hours in valley forge park. very nice out then.
today is tuesday, and i only teach two classes. i plan on swimming and climbing, but i don't know which order. I'm thinking that i'll swim this afternoon, climb this evening after my 5:15 class.

PFFT!! Captain, you are amazing!! Don't be embarrassed about some number, be proud you can actually finish a 26 miles! There are people out there who can't even run one mile, and you run 26...in a row! :hamster:

Thanks brownie. :D
Brownie's right! Anyone completing a marathon is a heck of a runner in my books.
This weekend I ran the National Capital Marathon as a pace bunny. I carried a big sign the whole way, and wore bunny ears, so that people trying for a specific time could follow me. I was supposed to run it in 5 hours, but I was using an unfamiliar watch and ended up finishing a few minutes behind schedule. The group I was running with was lots of fun, and I think they appreciated me joking around and trying to motivate them through the tough parts. I was especially happy to see that on the race website message board, someone had posted a thank you note to me! :D

:wayne: That is so cool!! I've never heard of a "pace bunny" but that really sounds like fun! Way to go and glad you had fun
Last night I tried to run outside after work but alas my calves began to lock up  so I went to the gym around 9 P.M., did 30 minutes on the bike, 15 minutes on the Ellip, and some ab work.
I couldn't do hanging leg-lifts though because my upper body hurt so much I couldn't hold myself up on the...machine-type thing. I'm feeling less sore today though :)
:nigel: Cheers!
Yesterday: 40 minutes lower body weight training, 30 minutes walking
Today (planned): 1.5-2 mile run, some walking, 15 minutes on the elliptical trainer

ok, while i had great designs on working out yesterday, i came down with a pretty nasty sinus business. Yesterday evening, i had a wicked fever, so i didn't get to swim or to climb. today, i feel like i was just immunized or something (all over muscle aches), my throat, eyes, ears, and neck are kiling me, but the fever is way down (from 103 to 99!). So, i don't think i'll be exercising today either.
i guess that's me. :)
