View Full Version : Blistex Lip Balm??

I know I'm probably getting my hopes up, but does anyone know by chance if Blistex Lip Balm (the medicated Lip conditioner kind) is vegan?? I have a container of it that I've had since before I started going vegan and I'm almost done it. It's the only lip balm stuff I've tried that actually helps my lips rather than just temporarily coats them with goo. lol
Anyways, before I go out and buy some more, I wanted to be sure it was vegan. The ingredients list on mine has mostly worn off so I was just wondering, does anyone know if its vegan??

does anyone know of a vegan lip balm that doesn't make your lips more chapped than before you put the stuff on?? :(

My problem is that about an hour after I apply lip balm, my lips seem really chapped again, and sometimes moreso than before I applied the lip balm. I have been using up my blistex medicated and my chap stick medicated ones but am getting close to running out on both of them.

Merry Hempsters is really bad on my lips - makes them chafe and scaly :(

Have you tried the Crazy Rumor lip balms? They always leave my lips soft and smooth. I can't deal with chappy, dry lips!

i'm another fan of crazy rumors.

i was *addicted* to blistex lip medex in my pre-vegan days and i weaned myself off of it and onto crazy rumors after trying a bunch of other vegan balms that didn't work for me.

i find crazy rumors to be a lot more creamy/smooth than the rest, and i love pretty much every flavor i've tried (i think i'm up to about 8!).

the only thing that i'll say is that i think my lips are having "withdrawal" from the lip medex... which might be what's happening to you, OregonAmy? i found that once i had TOTALLY stopped using my blistex altogether (at first, i was still using it maybe once a day or so), my lips freaked out a little. i think after using it for umpty bazillion years, my lips became a little dependent on how thick/medicated the blistex is.

i'm currently "riding it out" and using a washcloth (gently) on my lips when i wash my face morning and night. i do have some flaking but if i'm careful about exfoliating, and keeping balm on them throughout the day, they seem to be better. i think it's just a transition time.

Thanks for all the great input everybody!!

I had a look through all the sites and I'm so relieved to know their is good vegan lip balm out there!! :) My lips get chapped and so far the only thing that "heals" them is my Blistex the my sister gave me, but I guess I'll just have to try a few different vegan lip balms to find one that works for me. I think I'll go checkout Planet Organic and see if they carry any of the brands everybody mentioned.

Amy, are you making sure to drink enough water? I had chronically chapped lips, no matter the weather until I started beating into myself the habit of constantly drinking water. Now, my Merry Hempster's works just dandy, rather than making my lips all craggy like it used to.

I really do want to try Crazy Rumors. They sound orgasmo-rific. Unfortunately, my lip balm collection is getting a little out of hand.. I should finish one before I buy a new one.. but I just can't resist having a different lip balm for every day of the week and every mood of the day. My latest obsession is coconut-vanilla :drool: (& matching body lotion!) from Dirty Kitty.

Sorry, I didn't see this. That's probably it. I know I don't drink enough water throughout the day, so I probably AM dehydrated... I didn't even think of that!! :up:
