I know I'm feeling bummed about our cat, but a downer deserves an upper, so:
This morning, my fiancee got up before me (we trade off who has to get up first), and the first thing she did was let the dogs out. Thing is, MY dog wouldn't go out. She wanted ME to be the one to let her out. So she held out, legs crossed, until I got up, and let her out.
The thing is, when I get up first, and try to put my S/O's dog out, same thing. he wants MOMMY to let him out.
Do any of you encounter this? When your companion animal wants something, like to be fed, let outside, taken for a walk, etc. that they won't accept it except from THEIR person?

My cat Arlo is my cat. Only I can pick him up, hold him, etc. Anyone else who even tries to move him or the like generally gets a one-on-one encounter with Arlo's claws. The other 2 cats are generally nice to everyone, but Arlo is a one person kind of guy. He tolerates my ex, but even she is not allowed to touch him too much or he either shreds her or leaves.
I am a very lucky Dad to have such a loyal and loving kitty. :smitten: :D

Cleo is very much a mama's girl. She follows me around on my heels some days, and won't get out of bed in the morning until I get out of bed, so my parents have taken to coming into my room sometimes in the morning and either carrying her upstairs to take her first pill, or just bringing it to her in my room. (She needs to take it on an empty stomach an hour before eating -- so they tend to give it to her, then i feed her when we get up)
Munchie loves everybody -- but I am most definitely his Mama. He also sleeps in my bed, and gets VERY upset if I go away for a few days. He loves on me when I get home from work every night, and if he's loving someone else and I come in a room, he'll abandon them for me. He also has a particular Meow he uses when he's looking for me. He normally doesn't meow at all, just makes little "Burr?" noises, but he does this particular squeak meow and it means he can't find me, and I call him and he comes RUNNING and jumps on me and smooches me.
Atticus is also fond of everyone, but for whatever reason, will only answer me when I call him.

Nah, all my dogs seem to like my mom better than me, and she doesn't even live with us. :P
But, I did have someone at the shelter walk Starbucks around the main yard there, and the whole time she was walking him, he kept looking back over his shoulder to make sure I was still there. I walked away and hid behind the building so he'd stop watching me and she says as soon as I did that Starbucks turned around and started running to find me, pulling her behind. He never pulls on the leash, so I found that quite funny.

My cat won't let anybody else pet her, or get near her for that matter. She doesn't let me hold her that often, but I'll let that slide. :p

My dog Sadie sleeps with us. She says in bed while we get ready for work, and waits for her kisses and belly rubs from both of us. Then, when I'm through getting dressed, I take her out. The other day, I was running late, and my husband called her to "let's go pee pee" and she wouldn't budge. She just looked at him like "nope. Thats mommy's job!" :D
