Hi all. I'm Jo--I've posted quite a bit in some of the other forums, but this is my first time in this one. :hi:
My apologies in advance if this is a repeated thread....
I'm sure this is not a new issue, and one I'm sure many experience; I would very much like to know a humane way of keeping cats out of my front yard. There are new people moving in and out quite frequently lately and we can't seem to pin-point whom they belong to--I live on a long block of at least 60 houses....
Anyway, you walk out my front door and all you smell is cat "mess"--the same if you're walking up to my house...it's starting to become a real issue :-/
Some people say to spray them with a hose, which I'm not comfortable with--I don't want to hurt them or scare them so that they might run into the street to startled to see a car coming :(
Are there any products out there that are safe to the cats and will keep them from doing their business in my yard??? I just spent a good half an hour picking up their mess--ugh!
Thank you in advance for any advice, much appreciated. :sunny:

Are you certain it's cats? If the mess you're talking about is poop -- cats usually bury theirs.

There are sprays that are supposed to repel animals; I haven't tried them so I can't give a recommendation. Look here for some links to cat repellants. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=cat+repellent&spell=1) You'll want to make sure to get something that won't poison wildlife or plants.

*Yes, it is cats--we've seen them and caught them in the act--ugh!
My yard is grass therefore no dirt to bury their "evidence" :)
I will check out that link--much thanks.

Moth balls work wonders, I'm told. The smell isn't great, but better than cat poop?

4leaf, try also cedar chips--for some reason, cats can't stand that smell.

*Wonderful--pleasing to us and repeling to them without being harmful.
Thank you. :)
