View Full Version : Colored Text

There seems to have been some people that have a hard time reading others due to their background color and/or someones colored text.

I was wondering if there's any way to add a feature to VB that would allow people who have a hard time reading the colored text to "block out" the colors?

That's a good idea. I've seen other boards that had that option. But it would be cool if everyone picked a different color to type all of their posts in. I'm debating using Lemon Chiffon as my color of choice.

Oh and we should have flashing colors, like on the old school HTML websites. That would be sweet!

Hehh... with a pumpkin coloured background I can't read that at all! A lovely idea, jenna rose, multi coloured posts bug me no end, they make things too hard to read.

I don't mind the darker colors, like purple. The pink hurts my eyes, though. And if you post in yellow I'm not gonna even bother to read it.

I have a hard time reading differently coloured posts: some colours are really bright to look at and others just don't offer a lot of contrast. I like coloured text when used to make a particular word or phrase stick out, but not used for an entire post.

It would be great if there was some way to make everything black.

Why do some use coloured text? Is it because their posts are so boring that people wouldn't notice them without some fancy colouring?

If not being noticed is the issue, there are the resident attention whores that one could seek advice from.

Or they are boring themselves and looking to add colour to their lives?

There is a reason why the majority of text is black or a dark brown. It's easy to read.

That's just not necessary, y'all. Can we discuss this without insulting others?

Mine was a joke. I assume you haven't seen The Mirror has Two Faces.

"Why don't you wear makeup?"
"Why? It's still me only in colour."

I haven't seen that. Joke or not, what I'm asking to stop are the implications of boring-ness. Let's focus on color not content.

I don't like posts written in colour. I skip many of them, almost all if they are longer, and I know I am not the only one. If you want people to actually read what you have to say, and if you have something worth saying, then I think it should be written black against light background.

This also goes for the people who insist on using small fonts for their posts. Those are also posts I skip.

Ugh. That color is dreadfully pale. :p

I think Brandon's green posts are cool. He was the first one to do that. Everyone else is a copycat.

There is no way to disable it for some people. They can highlight it to make it easier to read.
