11 mile run in blazing 90+ degree heat again.

It seems like we had a number of racers this weekend!

Slynny, congrats on your marathon! You rock.
Anna, congrats on your du! Those look like a ton of fun!
Veg, congrats on your 5k! Don't feel bad about being beaten by all those people. There are a number of 60+ year olds in my pace group that can run me into the ground anytime. :)

I ran 16k at a fairly easy pace this morning. Great weather for running; cloudy and a bit cool with a slight breeze. The only problem was that my regular pace group was running way too fast. The marathon is only a week away, and I think people have the attitude "it's just 16k, so we can run it quickly". You're wearing yourself out before the race! Where's the sense in that?

Hi Hamsters,

Thanks Captain!! Great run! It was a great race! I didn't do as well as I had hoped but I finished and that is always my #1 goal. Hehehe...be careful what you wish for...I was all worried about it raining and storming again this year and was so hoping for nice weather. Well, we got nice weather! Sunny and about 76 degrees...but of coasre I have been training in 45-60 degree weather and it may as well been 85...which made it tough. Still, a great run.

Congrats to all the other racers!!! :bobo:

markc, sounds like you run a smart race!

Go Hamsters!!!! Woo Hoo!!

As of today (Sunday 5/22) I rode 7 miles in 35 minutes. It was really hot again today, so I decided to ride rather than run. It was a good ride, and it was good because I hadn't biked in a long time. I will go run again on Monday afternoon/evening, once the temps drop down and I can go out w/o being burned to a crisp. :)

so, for today (monday), i did my swimming. it's my first time back since my period ended--but i was busy between then and now. So, it's been 10 days. My previous distances were about 1500, and today i managed 1100 in 25 minutes--which is good timing, but i was tired. Of course, with little breakfast and little sleep (cuz of the U2 concert), that's not terrible. :)

I'm going rock climbing this evening after i teach my yoga class. In fact, i think it's going to go thus: yoga practice; yoga teaching; rock climbing. pretty nice!

Yesterday was 18 mile bike ride and 30 min yoga.

Today I ran 3 miles and will probably do something else tonight...maybe go for a short bike ride. I wanted to run farther, but my knee started to hurt a bit so I stopped. I ran 4 miles on Saturday without pain, but I think all the biking yesterday may have aggravated it. Oh well.

ND, I have heard that if you have knee problems biking is not a good source of cross training. I think one of our pace leaders has mentioned that to us before.

Don't forget the sunblock everyone!

Nothing for me today, it was hard enough just walking....and then I had to go up and down stairs...ouch! I'm thinking about another marathon in the fall. In the mean time I think I will try a triathlon or two this summer....thats the plan anyway. I hope to be able to go to exercise class on Wed. we'll see.

ND, biking is a great way to strengthen the knees but they need to be in good working order first. Rest them and ice them a couple times a day until they don't hurt. I know it's hard to wait but it's only going to take longer if you push things to soon. O ya, and Ice them. Ice, ice, ice. :)

Way to go Hamsters!!!!! :hamster: :vebo: :hamster:

I'm baaaaack!! Okay, all the rest of you seem to be running like 10 miles at the drop of a hat, but I'm not like that (yet).
That's okay though...I will celebrate my 2 miles (no walking!) that I did today and be happy with that.
My goal is to run the 8 mile Turkey Trot held here in Dallas on Thanksgiving morning.

Yesterday I had a 60 - 90 min. dance practice! gettin' back in the habit and it feels grrrreat!

Unfortunately, my schedule is too hectic to take my dance class tomorrow - wah!!! So, I guess I'll be doing my own home exercise. :P

Tonight - will do stretches, ab work, leg and arm work. At least 30-45 min.

Is anybody bikini-ready yet?? I'm almost there. :P
