But I've made it very clear to the Congress that the use of federal money, taxpayers' money, to promote science which destroys life in order to save life, I'm against that. And therefore, if the bill does that, I will veto it."

So.... does that mean that he's going to outlaw all medical/pharmaceutical animal testing?!

:D

Oh well, America can just get left behind then. We'll just have to develop all those good things and get US$ for selling it there.

Well, South Korea is already leaving us in the dust. It just makes me happy that somewhere in the world, this life-saving technology is being developed, even if it's not here because of our completely insane leaders.

Yeah, it amazes me that life is so sacred to Bush that we can have the Teri Schivo (sp?) fiasco, stem cells can't be used for research, women can't have abortions...but he was quick to break all kinds of records for executions in Texas when he was running for president in 2000 and we're now at war for money and power, while the casualties just keep piling up. That totally doesn't jive. Either life is sacred or it isn't. You can't pick and choose which life is worth saving and still claim that you see life as sacred.
