A couple of years ago I used to look after my boss' new born infant (after he was several months old).... I did this for a while during the time I worked for her (I'd do my work while keeping an eye on him, and taking him out during my lunch breaks).

Today I saw him and his Dad.... he's walking and talking now, and didn't seem to recognise me..... which made me feel a little sad.

I understand your sadness. Don't take it personally, though, at young ages they can forget people quickly. And they definitely grow quickly too!

Ay, Kurm, I've had the same thing happen. I was a regular babysitter for these two kids, Katie and Sean. I had to stop watching them when I started college, so I haven't been around them much in the past three years. Katie hasn't changed quite as much as her brother- she was 6 when I knew her well, but Sean was only a year old then and is 4 now. He's so vastly different now, and he doesn't remember me at all. Sometimes when I see him, he calls me by my sister's name because my sister watches them now.

I was THRILLED when that family asked me to go with them to this music festival this summer to babysit Katie and Sean while the rest of them have a good time. They're paying for my ticket, I get to hang out with two of the cutest kids on the planet, and I'll get to do a few of the festival-y things I want to.

All that to say "I know what that's like, Kurm." :p

He may remember you but not be able to express it as he could not talk then and so has no verbal memory of you. Next time you see him you could smile at him and say hi and perhaps get to know him some now.
