So I got home today and ate cereal...mucho...and then I had Tings...mucho...and just now I stood there and picked at this hunk o' bread...and I want to keep eating!!
I don't know if it's the heat (90* here outside with NO air condition/ceiling fans/fans of any type in the apartment) or just a random eating day...
I'm seriously fighting the urge to keep eating right now because I know it'll only make me feel more miserable...
GAAAAH!!!!!!

Go brush your teeth and then floss. That will help a little bit, since your mouth will feel so fresh and clean, you'll be less likely to "dirty" it with food.
Have you had a filling meal today? If not, plan one for your next meal, that might help.

I have this same problem, but have had it for weeks now, and i'm starting to put on weight, which is really worryin me. Hopefully when my exams are over, this will end too, as i think it may be comfort eating for me.

Pseudo ~ how much did you workout today (or yesterday) ? Perhaps your body is just trying to 'recover'. Get off the computer, and go sit outside or take your dog (if you have one) some where w/you. or just go for a drive. Being on VB will make you more hungery talking about it and reading other posts involving food.

Did you eat enough today? Perhaps you are just hungry.

I ate like all day long (per usual)...
When I got home from work I had a bowl of cereal and Tings.
Gah.
I eventually left the house to go buy a workout shirt and then go to the gym. I ate a Luna bar and it's 10:20 P.M. now so I think that'll get 'er done for the evening.

could have been the carbs in the cereal that triggered the overeating feeling.

lol... that's nothing!
how many calories do you think you eat... 2000? 3000? are you gaining weight? if your not, dont worry about it. plus ur a man and you work out, so you can also eat up until 3800 which is considered the "norm". i eat that much, i gain weight- you lucky.

i don't know if it will help you to think about this, but the less you eat, the thinner, the thinner, less fat, less fat, less heat your body produces, less heat your body produces, the cooler you'll feel. so you'll feel better in the heat.
i dont know if that helps. i live i really warm weather too,and that's not very effctive. think about it.
oh, another thing, limit theamount of food you have around the house. make it so that ou have to go out EVERY time you need a meal. it might be annoying. if if you're truely hungry, yu'll go out and buy food, if you're lazy, you won't, and you wont eat as much.

You're assuming that Pseudo needs/wants to lose weight.

This is your last warning. If you don't like it here leave. Otherwise keep the rude comments to yourself.

My best tip is to drink a lot. If it is hot out you can confuse thirst with hunger. Drink lots of water, and then in 20 minutes if you still are hungry have a light snack.
Iced tea is another good option. You can get decaf and herbal tea too and make it into iced tea. It is great on a hot day over ice with some fresh mint perhaps? Or a lime or an orange wedge on the glass to look festive and cute.
If you have a nice glass (try Pier 1 for great prices) and it looks more like a cocktail, you won't feel deprived. :)

I'm having problems controlling my eating. It's gotten to the point where I told my roommate to not buy sweets. He buys them anyway, knowing of my food addiction. He says i need self control. That's easy for him to say, he's skinny. If I don't lose weight, I'll never achieve the goals I've set for myself.

pseudo - are you getting enough protein and fat? Cereal, Tings, and then bread...maybe you felt like eating because you weren't getting enough of the nutrients your body was craving? When I first went vegan in college, that's when I started having problems with binge eating. Looking back I think it's probably because I didn't take the trouble to get enough nutrients in my diet.
I would say, when the urge to binge overtakes you, make something really satisfying and filling, like a boca burger on a bagel, or some whole wheat toast with peanut butter and raisins sprinkled on top, or something like that. Try to make sure that whatever you are eating has a good balance of carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Oh, make sure to get plenty of fat! Fat has a real staying power that might stop the bingeing urge. Nut butters are great for that.
Good luck! I've been there myself and I know how yucky it feels.

Haha, I was just going to start a thread asking for tips to stave off the appetite. I just feel so gross if I eat when I'm not hungry and I'd also like to lose some weight from last winter. I've heard the flossing/brushing thing, and i do that. I also drink a lot of water. Does anyone have any other tips for future reference?

If you feel like you can't stop eating it might be because you like eating or something is stressing you out. Maybe eating low calorie foods could help since you can eat more with out getting as many calories. So fresh fruits and vegetables plus plain popcorn would be good choices.

from what i've read of what you normally try to eat and how much you workout i don't think you eat enough so you're probably just hungry. try adding a bit more food to your regular meal plan and see if that will stop the random binging.
