My hair is very straight (I'm Asian), coarse and kind of dry. It doesn't have that nice, sleek, glossy sheen that you see on so many Asian people. Instead, it's got static and flyaways that stick out all over the place.
Any idea of a hair product that might help me get that shiny glossy sleek look?
Thanks!

I thought in your last hair post you were raving about your healthy vegan hair! What happened? Have you changed your diet or hair care routine? ... or perhaps I am just confused and thinking of someone else.

No... that was me. It IS healthy in that it's full and lush and strong. It's just not sleek. :(

I take a dryer sheet and run it over my hair, and over my brush and comb, on particularly dry days.
Maybe you're over-washing or over-shampooing? I used to have more static in my hair when I used to shampoo twice in a shower, with a lot of shampoo. Now I use a dime-sized amount, and only shampoo once, even if I feel like I should do it twice.

You can buy brushes and combs that are designed specifically to reduce static. I have a comb like that- it has something to do with negatively charged ions. I bought the comb at a long hair salon for $3.50. It works, and seems to make my hair a little shinier.

don't comb/brush your hair.
i have very static-y hair but since i've stopped brushing it's much better. initially i used those brushes that are supposed to reduce static. it helped marginally. then i stopped brushing.
you dont really need to, esp if you use conditioner. i just run my fingers thru my hair after i shower and that's all.

The best vegan (professional) products I can recommend are PureOlogy. The hydrate line will work miracles on your hair! It will stop breakage, static and give your hair a beautiful sheen. It's extremely concentrated, so a little goes a long way. It's a little on the pricey side, but I promise it will last. The liter sizes are the most economical investment. I recommend this stuff to all of my clientel. I've only had one unhappy user, who had an allergic reaction to the botanicals.
