I ran a half marathon today (13.1 miles)
I was so glad that I didn't choose to do the full marathon. This race was very hilly and it reached 95 degrees F here today! Can you say hot?

Next weekend is the marathon. I hope I'm ready...I don't feel like I am...even though I completed the training. Don't know why I feel not ready? I guess I just can't believe I'm going to do this again :)
Captain, you're so awesome! Thanks for keeping up the Hamster thread!!!
Way to go on the half. I can't imagine running in heat like that. I couldn't do it.
Mark, Big congrats on your 100 km :wayne: WOW!
ND! :hi: Nice to see you!
Great Week everyone!!!
Go Hamsters!! :vebo:

Erm...first 5k yesterday...
Ran it in 29:30...sort of disappointed (especially after practicing at around a 27), but there were two big hills I wasn't expecting and so...whatever I'm just glad I made it under 30. I even stopped to walk twice :sealed:
Before the 5K was a 1-Mile "fun-run" or something and I WAS THE TOP FEMALE FINISHER!! :nana: Of course, my only "competition" was two 11 year-olds and a 13 year-old ...but I won some shoes...haha running an 8:22-mile (good for me).
Oh, and then I went hiking around after the race :)
:nigel: Cheers!
P.S. Good job on the 1/2, Captain!

Ooops. I just realized I started the hamster thread a day early. Hehe. I am so used to doing my long runs and races on Sunday that I am used to finishing them, going home and starting the thread so this Saturday race threw me off.
Good luck next weekend lynn! I'll be thinking of you. Hopefully it won't rain this year. :) And yes, this heat is a bit much. I had a dream that the world ran out of water last night.
PV, great job! It's your first race, don't be worried about your time, which is a great one at that. When are you doing your next one?

I am debating another 5K two weeks out (not doing the 10K...hopefully next year  ), or perhaps an 8K in three weeks I think?
I have a lot to work on...I *really* need to start doing speed/hill/trail work so...eh. It wasn't bad for a first race; I'm excited to do some more, smaller ones until I start working up to 10K's, 1/2's, and maybe some day an actual marathon
:nigel: Cheers!

8 mile run today. I feel much better about next weekend after my run today. It was a great run.
Thanks very much Captain! Hehehe...I checked the weather forecast and they are calling for thunderstorms next Sunday  figures. Well, its really to early to tell, the forcast here changes hour to hour. I'll just hope for the best and take what I get.
PV, Way to go on your first 5K!!! Thats a great time. Sounds like you had fun. My daughter was going to run her first 5K next weekend at the marathon but she broke her foot this weekend. My poor sweety. Hehehehe....I've placed many a race due to lack of competition...gotta love those small races.
@raeven, An hour of roller blading.....awesome!
Go Hamsters!!!! :vebo:

monday - 20 mins elliptical, 20 mins bike, abs.
tuesday - 20 mins treadmill (2.5 miles), 20 minutes elliptical, abs.

Today:
Now that I am out of school, I rejoined my old gym! Yay! I plan on going 5-6 days a week for 2 hours a day, so I will be posting here a lot more regularly. :hamster:
Went for 2 hours and did 35 minutes elliptical, 20 minutes treadmill, 5 minute run, 10-15 minutes arm work, 10 minutes ab work, and 15-20 minutes of leg/hip work. Today RULED! :hamster:

Hi everyone! Just wanted to drop in to let you know Slynny that I'm running again. I'm doing the Atlanta Marathon Thanksgiving day and the LA Marathon next March. I'm slow as a turtle but I manage to finish before the course closes every time. HA! Not sure when I'll be back but hope everyone is doing well and meeting their goals.

So, I'm back!! I'm tired of not exercising as much because of my silly hamstring issues. Its been 2 weeks! So, I'm just gonna dance anyway! :surprised :D Sorry for the rant.
Yesterday - 60 min. dance practice
Today- performing 2 dances tonight for a friend's graduation party.
Tomorrow - going to my 1.5 hour jazz dance class!!! Missed it soo much! My friend from class even emailed to see how I was doing.
Sooo, I'll have to do some major stretching tonight to prepare.

I'm still not back to hamstering since my race on the 7th. I'm still feeling generally a bit more tired, so I don't want to push it by running too much this week. I'm running a marathon in 10 days as well, so more running woudl probably be more likely to hinder rather than help. Great job to everyone who's keeping up with your activities!

Did any one here do the 5 (or 3?) boro bike race in NYC a few weeks ago? How was it? I really wanted to go, but I had to work. Oh well.
Today:
30 minutes elliptical, 20 minutes fast walking on treadmill, 2 5 minute runs on treadmill, 10 minutes on arm machine, 10 minutes free weights, 20 minutes of leg/hip work, 100 crunches on ab machine.
I have a 1 hour yoga video planned for tonight before I watch Law and Order: SVU...which is the best show ever and you must watch it now. :)

Okay, so. Took Sunday and Monday off, as I was feeling some (running-induced :-/ ) bone pain, but I think I'm okay now :D So yesterday I ran 4 miles, today biked 14 miles and walked 2.
I also have a duathlon this weekend...a short one, though, so it should be fun :)
Go Hamsters!!!

Sunday: 7.5 mile biking, little yoga
Monday: 11 mile bike
Tuesday: 1 mile swim, 15 min aqua jogging
Today: 1.5 mile run, 7.5 mile bike
My knee still hurts, but I really want to run! When I ran today, it hurt but didn't get worse over the course of the run although I wasn't out for near as long as normal... we'll see how it feels tomorrow I guess!

I'm in rest mode...hehehe...and enjoying it, but I'm getting antsy. The forcast is still calling for thunderstorms the morning of the marathon. I hope they're wrong.
kathym!!!!! How the heck are you! Sounds like you're doing good!! That's awesome news. Hmmm...I might have to think about a trip to LA. PM me sometime for Pete's sake. Take care and good for you!
virtue, I know injurys are hard to deal with but it's important to make sure that you're healed up before you start up again or you will only make things worse. So, I hope you're all better.
vegetable, I hate the treadmill too, but it sure does help out at times. Way to Hamster.
countess, that's great! I wish I had a good gym to go to.
annnabanana, did I ever tell you how much I like your name? My daughters name rhymes with banana and so we call her banana, sometimes with her name, sometimes just banana. What kind of bone pain were you having?Anyway, good luck with you duathon!!! I'm sure you'll do great!
ND, It's a bad idea to run when your knees hurt. I'm guessing you can probably tolerate a lot of pain too, but that doesn't make it better. If it is a bad pain...and almost all knee pain is...you shouldn't be running on it at all!
ICE!!!! you are icing it right....if not start. I ice my knees after every run whether they hurt or not. Since I started doing that I haven't had any problems with them. I hope they feel better.
Brandon, thats an awesome time!! I run 6 in about 60 min. Great runs!! You should ice your knees too.

Ugh, I know...but I'm at least better than I was before. Last week I was limping around all day cause it was so painful to walk. I just figure maybe taking the classes again as I usually would do, will help speed up the process. I'll have to go at my own pace, but I'm hoping to be at my best tonight. :D
Today - 1.5 hour jazz dance class
