I've recently discovered the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/welcome.html), makers of perfume oils.
They don't use animals products. From their FAQ:
I'm vegan. Do your perfumes contain any animal-based products?
Not a single one of our blends contain ANY animal-based products whatsoever. Our 'civet' and 'ambergris' are bouquets, and thus, are composite scents created from plant-derived perfume oils combined to best aproximate the scent. Black Phoenix is entirely cruelty-free, as our four dogs, two fish, and resident cat will attest.
All perfumes are tested on Elizabeth.
They sell tester vials so you can try out the scents before committing to a 5 or 10 oz bottle. So far I've tested out seven (ordered six and they threw one in for free). I think my favorite so far is one called Velvet, which is warm and woody and a bit cocoa-vanilla sweet, and made my lover actually lick the inside of my wrist. :naughty:
I am discovering a love for scents all of a sudden. I think I am going to have to order a 5 oz of Velvet, and maybe one of Incantation as well (sandalwood, vetiver, a hint of lemon...)
Anyway I thought I'd share, for all the scent-lovers here. :)

I've seen this site, but I haven't placed an order yet. I'm a scent-junkie :)

If you decide to order samples, let me know first. I have a few that I'm planning to pass on since they didn't work out for me. :)

I've ordered from them several times. I love their stuff, and the people have been extremely helpful. I also have some samples that I used once and won't use again, so if anybody is thinking of ordering, feel free to pm me. I'll be glad to pass them along.
Oh, and be aware that it takes a while to get your order. I think mine have usually taken 5-6 weeks. It's well worth it, though.
My favorites: Incantation, Laudanum, and Greed.

Ooohh... are any of the samples you have "food" scented, like vanilla or sugar based scents?

Laudanum - The essence of the most debauched hunger encapsulated into a perfume. Desire beyond love, anguish beyond sanity. Nutmeg, sassafras, black poppy and myrrh.
Mmm, sounds a bit like a sexy root beer. :D What does black poppy smell like?
Greed sounds nice too.

That site is pleasure just to look through. I like their dark romantic victorian theme.

Velvet is sugary (though on me, the sweetness dies down after while, leaving the sandalwood and myrrh) But since Kirk likes it I'll probably use up my imp (what they call their sample vials) before I get my 5 oz, sorry!
But I have another vanilla-y one called Snake Oil: "By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla." It's really nice, but not me. I found it too strong. You are welcome to it. :)
I also have these that I'm not keeping:
Neo-Tokyo: "A scent that captures a meeting of the serenity and elegance of ancient Japan, the vibrant, shining, neon-lit and ultra-modern splendor of today's Tokyo and the fantastic electric fantasyland of post-modern manga fantasy. Urban metallics and an ozone-tinged breath of electric light mingled with reedy bamboo, crisp mountain air, cherry blossoms, delicate orchid and a splash of playful, wet fruits." It was too floral for me.
Ultraviolet: "Electrifying, mechanized and chilly -- the scent of crushed blooms strewn on cold metal. Lush violet and neroli spiked hard with eucalyptus and a sliver of mint." Again, too floral. I really wanted to like it, too.
Djinn: "An ancient, free-willed race created from the essence of Fire, much as man was created from Earth. They prowled the land at night, vanishing with the first rays of dawn. Myths surrounding the Djinn paint them as many things: benevolent champions of mankind and slaves to mad sorcerers, malicious incubi / succubi and energy vampires, or malevolent harbingers of madness and disease. The Djinn are ruled by Iblis, the Prince of Darkness, who bears unspeakable contempt for man. The scent of black smoke, of crackling flames, and smoldering ashes." This one was just :stinkeye: on me... I like smoky scents, like campfirey kind of smoke, but bleh.
And I'm undecided about Namaste: "A Sanskrit blessing and word of greeting that bears a powerful symbolism. It represents the Oneness of all of existence, the union of matter and spirit, perfect wholeness. It is accompanied by a gesture: Anjali -- hands pressed together, fingertips heavenward, pressed together over the heart's chakra. This oil blend is a serene, soothing Indian blend, created to bring calm and joy to the heart and peace to the spirit. Sandalwood, jasmine, rose, patchouli, cedarwood and lemongrass." I need to try it again to make sure, but I think it's too floral for me.

I don't know if I can detect black poppy, or what it smells like. I definitely smell nutmeg & myrrh in it, though. It's a very warm, soft, yummy smell, not at all floral or powdery-smelling (my LEAST favorite smells.)
My gf wears Greed a lot; it smells fabulous on her.
