View Full Version : Do I need to detox?

It's probably been discussed somewhere at some point here already, but perhaps not related to my questions/concerns...anyway...a recent post about skin and some reply recommending a detox, etc....

My complexion has been really irritating and confusing for 5-6 months now. My face is fine, except for my forehead, which has been broken out for said months. No soaps (natural or chemical-ly) or "face products" (rubs/creams) have helped. I've tried to monitor the severity based on what's going on in my life, what I'm eating/consuming, etc...all to no avail. I even quit using this shampoo I bought around the time it started thinking it was that, but it wasn't...

Anyway, reading a short article on detox, I don't know what else I could remove from my diet, and still keep my sanity. I'm a vegan; I eat two fruits a day on average. On most days I get my veggie servings in (everyone has their off days...). I drink at least 60 oz. of water/day. I don't smoke; I'm not on any prescription medications. T'only time I even take Ibuprofen is for a headache/cramps (not often). True, I do have my vices in the form of caffeine and sweets...I don't eat a lot of candy or drink soda or anything, but I enjoy a good vegan baked good so that has sugar in it, etc.

I do occassionally drink alcohol, but after last weekend I. AM. DONE. At least for a long while. It'd been a month between drinks last weekend. So what gives?

I consumed caffeine/coffee long before my skin turned to crap; I also probably ate a lot more refined sugar, artificial stuff, and chemicals before this started too. :wall: I don't get it!! What can I doooooo?!?!? :cry:

:nigel: Cheers.

P.S. If anyone thinks a detox might rid my face of its blemish-plague, how do I go about doing one?

You didn't mention hair styling products? Do you use them? Certain styling products make my skin break out.

Hmmmm. I've been having the exact same problem, but I'm breaking out down by my chin and no where else. I haven't changed my diet in the past 6 months. I'd be interested in hearing what you find out.

pooey immune system maybe?
My skin got a lot better once I started using my new face wash, but I still break out badly if I am feeling ill or run down.
So...eat lots of yummy good for you food! - it can't hurt lol

No I don't use any product except when my stylist puts that crap in my hair when I get a cut...but it's washed out by the next day, if not later that night...

::le sigh::

Guess I'll just start peroxiding my face every night.

:nigel: N/C.

No, you don't need to detox. Your body will work all the 'ickies' through your system in due time. A strange restrictive combination diet isn't the cure.
