The druids Pendent
Chapter One: The Temples
In the hot noon day sun, by Collack, the third largest city on the rich Deneb coast, few were about – the heat kept many indoor. Few would notice a single, young man in grimy home spun clothing casually sitting on a bunch of empty wooden boxes overlooking the temple square. The young man seemed to be doing nothing more then loitering but was in fact carefully watching the comings and goings of the four great temples: life, fire, death, and nature. The temple of life was a large white sandstone pyramid with a pure white light on its apex. Life temple builders are fond of large pillars and marble floors. It was said the goddess of life was the most beautiful being in the world and beyond, so all of fine looks and well toned body were touched by her. But then again, it was said to be a member of the life temple was to have an open bed. The life temple is the most divided of all the temples, with many sects and factions, not all of which have such hedonism views as is the hallmark of most life temple sects. The fire temple was little more then a multi leveled pit with a large fire pit at the bottom. Their way of thinking was often akin to that of complete and utter chaos. Their god did not even have a name. But still, some of the worlds greatest thinkers came from the fire temple, and so did the maddest wizards and evilest madmen. The temple of death was a plain, black pentagon shaped building without any windows. Of all the temples, deaths was the least liked. It was whispered in taverns and inns that the priests of the death temple stole cattle and small children for nightly blood sacrifices. This is denied, of cause, by the temples clergy, and all the temples say that the transaction into the afterlife must be handled by the death temple. So no matter how bad the common peoples feelings toward the death temple, nearly all soles are laid to rest by the Death god.

Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow creatures is amusing in itself.
