That car stuff- it's totally my 93 citroen, which I bought brand new and was a beast to get in reverse from day 1. The garage said it was just settling down... 70,000 miles later it's still a beast to get in reverse. I often have to go into 1st and back out again to get it in. It doesn't matter, except most of the roads round here are very narrow, single tracks, so when you meet another car one of you has to reverse back until you find a passing space. And because I'm faffing about looking for reverse, people think I'm being stubborn and not reversing back down the lane.
And I have an gruesome clunking noise when I'm driving along sometimes, changing gear on bends does it. Is it fatal?

Rise and shine, kids. I'm not driving you to school if you miss the bus.

The sun is shininnnnn'
The weather is sweeeet
Today is such a beautiful day. I spent most of this morning on the banks of the Thames with some friends from my Sociology class, watching all the random boats going past.
But best of all... tonight, I get to talk to a special someone. Yay woo yayyy!

I hated riding the bus to school. I don't know what was worse - riding the cheese wagon, or riding the public transport bus while I was going to college & living in an apartment. Ugh. I'm so glad I'm done with that!

Does anyone have any exciting plans for this weekend?
Tonight, I'm leaving work at 8PM (which is a big deal, since I usually have to work 'til Midnight!), to go out with some friends.
The tentative itinerary is to have dinner at Sakana Ya, which is supposed to be one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants in the area, (and hopefully, as an authentic place, there will be some sort of tofu dish I can eat. I hope. ^^;; ) Then, we're going to hit Books Japan and Rainbow Video. Perhaps I can find a nice artbook at Books Japan...or maybe I'll buy some yaoi manga. Even if I can't understand it, I can look at the yummilicious pictures. XD
After that, we're supposed to go to a Japanese karaoke bar. I'm not wild about karaoke (I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket if my life depended on it), but I love Japanese music...so maybe it won't be all bad.

I'm having a band practice with da Boyees tonight. Heh. That's almost starting to seem like an official name. I hope it doesn't stick.
The bassist and I will jam, and if Trev can get there, so the better. THe bassist has never practiced with me alone before and he sounded nervous when I told him Trev might not make the practice- he's SOOOO shy, and being alone with a girl freaks him out I think! lol
Good guy though.
After that, tomorrow, we shall do more house-inating, and probably go back to IKEA aGAIN. *sigh* more crap to be exchanged... Then I shall pick up a bookshelf from my mum's and TRY to make the livingroom look like a livingroom. Even better if we can also make the bedroom sleep-able, as we're STILL both sharing the couch at night, and it's making me decidedly GRUMPY.
Ahhh- Redemption song came on in my iTunes program, ! I fuzzy heart Bob.

Besides moving back in to my dad's house, I don't have any plans for the weekend. Heck, when you're unemployed, pretty much everyday is like a weekend.
I'm hoping that *someone* will ask me out on a date though ...

but that guy never ended up staying on the couch. i ended up leaving early anyways to go get breakfast which i ate at work.
i made so many screwups the last couple days at work, today was a bit better but not a lot. kinda stressed and feeling stupid. but i have tomorrow off as well as sunday so i'm just gonna sleep all weekend.
oh and got home to find my tax return assessment (from 2001) and they're saying i owe them money from 1999. like, why did they wait so long, why on earth wouldn't they have come after me for it ages ago? but in any case i don't think i should have to pay, cause their reason is that i didn't send a rent receipt, but i did. i don't have a copy though to send again. i hate taxes, and tax people giving me the runaround and giving me wrong numbers to call

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I have every receipt and every pay stub, check copies, etc. since 1989 for just that reason, Gov't incompetence. They can come back to you whenever the heck they feel like it and say you owe them something, then put the onus on you provide the proof. It's BS.
Oh, hey... if you used someone like H&R Block... they can help. If they did your taxes and filed it on your behalf, then they'll assist you in this type of matter to resolve it. Good luck.

i filed my 2001 report myself with U File (free program online) but the 1999 report in question i don't remember doing. it was either a) done manually with the forms they give out at the post office or b) done by a friend's mom who does taxes out of her home but she'd have no record of it now
i know she did it for me one year but i don't remember what year.
in any case i looked around and couldn't find the assessment letters or the rent receipt. i'm going to keep looking, i know i had a copy but i think it probably got tossed last year.
i've decided though that i'm going to start keeping everything. pay stub, receipts, all past tax documents, everything.
meanwhile the due date they give me to pay is march 30th. i got the letter today. what kind of warning is that?? but i called the collections department and the guy said because it's not a lot of money they won't come after me if i put it off til i get it sorted out. they will charge interest but if they decide afterall that i don't have to pay they won't make me pay the interest on it either, so that's good.
it's only $120 but i'm upset because i was going to get $350 back from 2001, then this outstanding payment comes along and they deducted it all from what they owe me (what they say i owe is more than what they owe me, so 120 is what's leftover)
i was kinda really looking forward to that money to free up some space on my credit card. hmph! and i was lucky that the person on the french line knew enough english to understand what number i was trying to call. (the first woman i talked to told me the wrong number to call for collections dept)
but also, canada student loan is screwing me over as well and put a "lean" on my account whatever that means, even though i already got everything sorted out with them. they had sent me something saying i owed them money even though i'd sent them postdated cheques 2 months before

i deal with too many customer service type lines in a typical day now with my job. and funny how with some companies you could talk to one person, hang up and call again, and be told the total opposite from another person. company policies also seem to change depending on which agent you get. stupidity. we've had customers cancel their accounts with us because of these types of poor communication issues.
i'm going to get something to eat and go to bed. i'm totally exhausted http://216.40.249.192/s/otn/other/night.gif

Dang, it is a beautiful day in Syracuse. 48 degrees F isn't much but it's a sign of spring, my favorite season. I just feel so alive during this of year. It's supposed to be in the 40s and 50s all week, but I wouldn't be surprised if it snows in April (welcome to upstate New York weather).
