Skylark, the easiest thing I have found is to come on and quickly scan over the "New Posts". Then when I see what interests me, I go back and mark all threads read and start over from 0 new threads/posts. It makes life easy for me.

Ceryna, two things come to mind. First, maybe your friends are able to see something objectively that you cannot because you like the guy so much. Or, secondly, one could look at the situation and say if they were really your friend, they'd support your decision.
I would suggest that a true friend would give you his or her opinion, realize your an adult and can make your own decisions, then accept and support the decision you choose. They don't have to like it, but they should support you.
In any case, cheer up. Your friend will come around.
