VB is going into this big manila envelope here, and when 1vegan arrives, he'll find it in the envelope. Anyone who takes it out preemptively will... I don't know, that's up to 1vegan.

I found this while looking for something else on my cousin. It's a pic of my Grandpa from the 40's that was featured in the Charletston W.VA newspaper for an article they were doing about coal miners. I like this pic. Grandpa died one year ago this month. Strange that I would happen across his pic.....

Yeah, I found out yesterday that my cousin was coming home from work and a drunk driver hit him head on. I was looking for any articles they may have had about it in the paper. The accident happened the night of my birthday. The guy who hit him died yesterday. My cousin is in ICU. I may end up driving down there first thing in the morning. This sucks. My cousin is only 25 and such a cutie. He's so messed up now they say. What a drag...
He went over the side of the mountain and ended up flipped over. This after his motorcycle accident 5 years ago. Kids got no luck. I hope he pulls through..

Yes, very close. Since I'm 10 years older, I used to baby sit him and change his diappy...he's had a rough life already that's for sure. I hope he pulls through too. He's a fighter that's for sure. Not much keeps him down.

wow sorry to hear that Ruthie, i hope he'll be ok
that makes me mad, it's not like it's hard to find a cab outside the bars, they practically camp out there for the night. but maybe the guy had problems, might have been an alcoholic and depressed. sometimes they're so down they don't care if they make it home or not and forget that they risk hurting someone else. if he'd survived i'm sure he'd have felt awful, but that doesn't fix things huh.
but as angry as you must be toward the driver, you also sorta have to feel for his family, they have to live knowing he died from his own stupidity and could have killed others in the process. not much fun.

Ruthie, I'm so sorry to hear that. *big hug* Its so sad that innocent people have to pay for the mistakes of someone who chose to drive drunk. I hope your cousin will be okay...I'll keep him in my prayers.

Sorry to hear about that Ruthie. Similar thing happened to my cousin four years ago, a drunk in a car hit him when he was riding on his motorbike, head on. And the drunk had two previous convictions for drink drive. My cousin had 34 broken bones and was in hospital for months. He's sort of Ok now, but hasn't worked since, he was only 32 when it happened. Grrr. I threatened to sling my husband out the house for good if he ever drives a car home from a bar again. So he bought a push bike and peddles now.

Thanks bunches. I was going to drive to see him but they say he's in and out mainly because he is very heavily sedated for pain. He wouldn't know that I was there. It's only about a 6 hour drive from my house so it's not bad. I'm going to wait for him to recoup more and maybe be moved to a regular room.

I remember spending summer's in West Virginia w/all of my cousins..he was about 3 or 4 when he started following me around. I was 13 or 14.... I got in trouble the one time and Grandma made me pick a switch off the tree. I came back and didn't have one. He followed right behind me with the smallest stick...cracked Grandma up! So, he got me out of a whoopin' :)
And I was Rootie for the longest time too. Me and my other cousins used to dress him up and he was the baby whenever we played house.

We got so crazy at my 30th birthday and his 21st. Yup, we can really relate now that we are both older and have grown closer in the last 5 years or so. The girls just fall all over themselves for him. He has big green eyes and the longest eyelashes that curl up on the ends. Very handsome.

yeah what is it with long eyelashes on a guy? yum!

do you have more details now on how he's doing, how badly he was hurt etc?

I know it's no secret that I hate my father, and much of it is because of his drinking problem. He's had 7 DUIs in the past 10 years. Our insurance sucks. :( It would suck even more if he ever hurt anyone while being such a stupid jerk...
