AHhh yes, sweet sweet sleep. Something I had nearly none of last night, thanks to Miss Willow Bunny.
She spent the entire night trying to gnaw through the metal gate that keeps her in the kitchen. CRRRUUNNNCH! CRUNNCHH! Then she'd run around and make bonking noises, sounding like she'd gotten out. Then she got stuck behind the fridge and made everything go *bang!*. Then she decided it would be fun to have a race- with herself. The winner got into the litterbox, with a *smash* noise. THEN, without the use of opposable thumbs, she managed to open the pots and pans cubboard and go inside, where she made lots of good clanging noises and nested inside a frying pan for a small while, before the door drifted shut and she panicked, sending pots and pans flying everywhere as she tried to get out...
Normally I'd have her in a smaller cage IN the kitchen for night time, but it broke 2 days ago, so she gets to run around a lot at night right now.
Too bad she so desperately wants playmates at 3 am. She did everything within her power to wake us up...

Off to ride some trails on the MO river....We got so lucky, somebody had a sign in their front yard..."FREE BIKE SEATS!!"
Snatched one of them up, it is really nice...Got it mounted and away we go. Gav loves riding on the back...I think these things are normally like$75.00 so what a deal!!

...because the face that has occupied Skylark's head for awhile now is now entering the VB world! I took this pic of him while on that week-long service trip. There had been other people in the picture, too, but I cropped them out. ;)
Ain't he the darndest thing you ever did see?

SD,
So far, nothing's going on with him. I've seen him on campus a few times since the service trip, and I've been planning a service-trip-members get-together. It's scheduled for tonight at my house, but he said it's unlikely that he'll be able to come. Having talked to him on the phone twice to figure stuff out for the group evening doesn't quite qualify has "something" going on.
And he hasn't returned my CD yet.

He's yummy. Fingers crossed :)

Thanks, Spud. :) He's even more appealing in person than in a picture.

It's a leather coat. He's completely not vegetarian. He hasn't said anything around me that would indicate that he thinks veg*nism is stupid, though. He just isn't one himself.

My husband used to wear a leather motorcycle jacket. Only he left some pats of butter in the pocket once (pinched from a cafe) and it went rancid so we finally agreed it should be thrown away.
:D

Hmm... I could find his coat hanging up outside the cafeteria someday and stick a few pats of butter in it.....

Sorry- What do I think?? I have no idea what you mean by this...
(Did I mention I've been asked to model at a fur show in 2 weeks, and I consider it immoral to participate in such an event, but I'm so poor I'm torn about turning down the $900 I'd get for doing it... )

Av.... has to be a decision that you feel comfortable with, and not what you think others might think. Do what you feel is right... and that's all that really matters.

Ooooh! Say you'll do it and then in the middle rip off your coat to reveal a shirt that had been splashed with red paint and yell "fur is murder!" :)

No, no need to make an idiot of yourself or be unprofessional among your modeling peers.

Av,
I was referring to your perspective on veg*ns dating/being together with nonveg*ns.

oh avalon...that's a tough choice to make when you really need the cash. i can't say i wouldn't entertain the thought. i mean, it's not like they wouldn't just find someone else to do it; or that people will stop buying fur because you didn't model it.

Haha! NO, actually, there's no way I'd get away with something like that anyway. The security is *so* tight at these things.
My big dirty secret is that I've actually modelled for this show once before, a few years back... :( But it was my first gig, and I couldn't say no.
But they check EVERY bit of you before you're allowed in- your bag, your purse, your pockets, your shoes, full frisking, etc. They also have security every 2 feet.
The other drawback is I may have to miss class, and I could risk getting an employer who is super mean. Last time the people I had were super chill, but other girls got hired by people who wouldn't even let them sit down ALL day, from 8h30 to 18h00 at night, with only a 15 minute lunch break to run down the hall and get a sandwich.
My people had us sitting any time there were no buyers, and bought us lunch from the most expensive japanese restaurant in Montreal twice. They were wonderful. AND the girl I worked with was awesome. We became totally best buds before we were even finished training for it, and happened to end up in the same booth for the week- it was great.
But we were lucky, I think. It was about 50-50 if you had a good or bad experience.
PLUS modelling makes me feel fat, which is a total joke. But it's true- compared to some of the more pro girls, the girls from my agency are heffers. What a joke. Some of these chicks, in person, are just sickly looking. *ugh*

Av's delimma (darn, I can't spel tonight) reminds me of my own. The store where I work has been cutting my hours almost in half, and I just can't afford to have them do that. They told me there's one for-sure way to get the hours I need, and that's to work in the deli. The only way I would even consider agreeing to that is if they could assure me that I'd only work the the cheese and not with the meat, but they can't have people in the deli who only do half of the work.
Do I find another place to work, work fewer hours, or work in the deli? Now, I'm really not considering working in the deli because on top of the work itself, the two coworkers who are the crabbiest and meanest at the store work in the deli. They already don't like me, but if I worked right next to them, they could easily seek to make me miserable.

... well that's just it. For $100 I'd laugh in their face, but it's a LOT more than that, and if I don't do it, it's not like it'll have the slightest impact on the show anyway...
Last time I rationalised it by saying: "Hey- this is paying for my tuition, and when I'm graduated, I can change the world, and fight fur shows if I want to. I might as well take their money and support my veg*an @ss till I can kick theirs!!"
... but I'm still not sure this time!!
Skylark- I hear you, sister. :( Sometimes it sucks having morals! :p
And BTW- I still don't really remember what you mean about the dating thing. I'm a big believer in "live and let live" thing. I'm dating an omni too... in fact, his grandfather owns the biggest Turkey farming operation in the world. But, I figure those are his grandfather's choices, not his, and as long as he respects me I will be able to respect him.

Av,
Live and let live was what I was talking about. I recall you telling me and some others that differences over veg*nism aren't just cause to split up couples, so then it wouldn't be a big deal for me to admit that the guy I like is a leather-wearing omni. Does that make any more sense?
