is giving or passing on code of your own or presequently others a way to give people a head start about having a design or textstyle they want or other web design intricacy?

What is a deadjournal?

If I'm not mistaken, it's a variant on Livejournal, based on LJ's code. (LJ is opensource.)

LJ has become something of a business entity as of late, and Deadjournal (DJ) is more...I guess...Indie?

deadjournal.com = dead poet society.. (not really)

actually its a crap version of livejournal.com with lots of black and dodgy attitude.

DeadJournal used to be free, whereas LJ wasn't, or you needed a code from a friend. Now, DJ is the way LJ used to be. I don't use either, though, so I don't know what other differences there are. I just remember that DJ was started for people who didn't want to pay for LJ.

Yeah, LJ did away with the code thing. Anyone can sign up for a free LJ. There are a lot of benefits to being a paid member, though. :)
