Only if it's outside the school system..... the (groupwise) system we use at work registers if some one got your mail or opened it. :)
Yes indeed - mine's something like that... well, sends a reply back to the instructor saying that I opened the e-mail... which... yeah.. I really OUGHT to do...
*dragging, delaying, procrastinating - you all are a BAD influence - I rarely EVER procrastinate!*

TNS, as the mother of all good baking and cooking, do you have any good chocolate frosting recipes?

So... shut the laptop down at nt night, though, right?
I don't want to run the battery out... Wait though...how does that work anyway... wait - I have it plugged in right now... so? Battery? yes, no? Eh.... guess I could read up on ths or something...
I see a lot of conflicting reports on maximizing battery use, and I'm sure that it varies quite a bit depending on battery chemistry. Do you have an NiMH, Li ion, or Li polymer battery? With my old Dell I found that leaving the battery inserted while it was plugged into the wall shortened the lifetime considerably, perhaps because it was warm all the time. I'd read your documentation and poke around on the web, but probably a good initial approach is to charge the battery all the way, then disconnect it if you're going to be regularly using the machine plugged in. Depending on the physical design of your unit, that may or may not be practical.

I use my cell phone, set to REAL DAMN LOUD. The alarm tone is really annoying, and a sure-fire bet to make me get up to turn it off.
So - hypothetically, if I had your cell phone number, I could call and wake you up WAY EARLIER than you were planning? :D

Why not just say that you had to drop it? Maybe it's different there but here, everyone is pretty nonchalent about having to drop classes. Just say that you had a lot of stuff going on [or insert some other reason] and you had to drop it.
she was in three of my classes, so i'd have to tell her i was withdrawing from the whole quarter. and she knows i dropped another class last fall. and all quarter i've been telling her things like "i wasn't in class for that," "i haven't done the reading yet," "i haven't looked at the assignment yet," "i'm not sure about that," when she has asked me questions.
she's said things about me being such a good student and i don't know where she got that from.
i don't know. she shouldn't care if i say i decided i should take a break this quarter. i'm just embarrassed.

I hear you there! I paid around $7000 CDN for my first year, which was 24 credit hours (8 semestered classes).
What classes have you taken so far? How many credits is your program?
I'm paying about $1,800 a class. It's a 36 credit program.
So far I took a basic intro class, a cataloging class, and a YA sources and services class.

Oh sorry, no, but I'm newly allergic to gluten so I can't have wheat pasta.
Oops, sorry, I forgot. I don't remember -- can you do corn? I know I've seen corn pasta.

Oh that is FUNNY! My ex used to HATE the ticking sound... he said it made him have dreams about bombs blowing things up...I figure he was just weird...
I wonder how he'd do sleeping next to a CPAP machine. I got used to that.

Quite likely... vegetarian or vegan? Do you use icing sugar(powdered sugar, confectioners sugar)...
What ingredients do you have on hand?
Chocolate - right?
Frosting, correct? Not the thinner icing?

I honestly don't think that anyone would care - not in the way that you think anyway. I can't imagine that anyone would judge you because of it.

Sure, if hypothetically you never wanted to sail .
Actually, the ringer is set to a much lower volume than the alarm.

Vegan, Frosting. It will go on chocolate cake (if the cake works, that is).
I never make icing normally but my mom just bought me some gluten free icing sugar, so I would like to use it.
I actually don't have any chocolate on hand (only cocoa) but I'll pick some up tomorrow.

Whoa! That is expensive!
Are you in the US? I thought that the programmes in the US were shorter than ours in Canada...how long would the programme be if you were going full time?
ETA: Man, my math sucks! Yeah, that sounds about right. 36 credits is 12 classes, right? Mine is 48. I think that we do 2 years in Canada, and you guys usually do 1.5.

Fudge-Tofu Frosting (I don't think it's as rich and "fudgey" as some - but good, some people have issues with using powdered sugar - so I included this...)
Ingredients
2 cups sugar
1 1/3 cups soymilk
1/2 tsp. salt
4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 1/4 cups tofu (I always use silken tofu - don't know if other types work...)
2 Tbsp. oil
1 Tbsp. vanilla
Directions
Mix the sugar, soymilk and salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, then turn the heat off. Add the chocolate and stir gently until the chocolate is completely melted. Let this cool for about 15 minutes.
Put the tofu, oil, and vanilla together in a blender. Blend everything together, which is obvious since that's what a blender's for. Blend everything together. Blend blend blend.
Add the blended mixture into the now somewhat cooler chocolate sauce and beat it until it's thick and creamy and frosting-ish. Refridgerate it for a while, atl east an hour, possibly more. Once you're happy with it spread it on whatever you think needs frosting and enjoy!
A simpler one - but more fat - this one is from Kreeli's site - OMG everything I've made of hers is SO good... But I like it 'cause it's faster...
Chocolate Frosting
1 stick (1/2 c.) vegan margarine
2/3 c. cocoa
3 c. powdered sugar
1/3 c. soy or nut milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Melt margarine'. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating on medium speed to spreading consistency. Add more milk, if needed. Add vanilla. Makes enough to frost a round 9" layered cake or one 9" x 13" square cake.
