I know some people know about this, but if you don't, you MUST look at Freecycle!

This thing's great. It's a board where you can post things you wanna get rid of, and people contact you if they want it. You can browse the board and see if there's anything you want, hook up with the person offering, and you're set.

http://freecycle.org/

There's all kinds of stuff that people post: Furniture, shoes, clothes, rocks (yes, bags of rocks), things they never used and want to get rid of, household goods, you name it.

Find your area, and start Freecycling!

We freecycled a bit in our area... but the newspaper did a story about it and it got too out of hand. The site traffic went way up, and the stuff we got was mostly junk.

It was too much of a good thing.

I pretty much gave up on it. People would not pick up the things I offered, even if they ASKED for it. I got sick of wasting my time with them and just started giving things to goodwill.

When I replied about an item, I never got it. There was always some person sitting there on their computer pouncing on everything the second it was listed.

Bleah.

.

Goodwill is what exactly? In the Uk we have a gazillion different 'charity shops' selling clothes and junk to raise funds for their own charity.

A large charity to which you can donate practically any used item--clothing, books, furniture, electronics, appliances, whatever.
