I bought and planted it last year and it ended the season blooming. This year however, all the leaves have turned red (but they are still growing) and there are no blooms in sight - everyone else's jasmine is blooming:( What have I done wrong!

where did you get the jasmine bush? I am in London, on canada. Are they close or should I give up? Also stevia is a plant I would very much like to find if you know of anyone who has seeds.
If they are turning red, what type of soil are you using? How much sun?

I'm in Los Angeles - I bought the bush at a plant store.
Um . . . I'm not really sure what soil, but it does get a lot of sun.

The jasmine vine I just bought and planted says it does enjoy part shade; maybe the west coast sun is a bit too intense for it...??? I've found that several plants that required full Ontario sun [basil] don't react well to the full-on Vancouver sun.
Also maybe there are different types of jasmine; mine is just white but I know there is also a pink variety and I've heard of night-blooming jasmine...
??? Not very helpful I'm afraid but as the proud new parent of a jasmine I feel like I should get in on the ground floor, here....

Mine is just white too . . . perhaps you are right, it's getting too much sun . . . is the only way I can fix that to replant it? Or can I put a little shade thingy over it? I don't want to stress it further by repotting . . .

Well, it is a vine so perhaps you could create some partial shade with a trellis for it to climb on, or a vine buddy of some sort like a cobaea scandens [mine did well last year] or morning glory. Or put a shrub or Japanese maple near it and hope that it catches some of the attendant shade.
Hey, unless it actually DIES outright I figure you're still OK. It's just turning red, right? not dry and crusty?

Oy! Hmmm....just throwing this out there, but is it possible that it tried to pack 2 blooming seasons into one last year? The little slip attached to mine said that it blooms in the spring but you said that it ENDED the season blooming. I find that with some of the planters on my deck, the ambient heat of the apartment combined with the mild Vancouver weather can make some of them ambitious; I had primulas at Christmas and strawberries in February [!!!] Maybe right now it's trying to sleep but the summer is coming on regardless. Do you fertilize it at all, and if so, with what?

I would replant it. I am in Texas and our Jasmine is all in mostly shaded areas. it would not make it in much sun here.
If it is on it's way out anyway, try replanting it. It might take a while to recoup, so I would not expect much of it this year.

Hmm . . could it do something like that????
I'm not much of a gardener, the last time it was fertilized was Septemberish last year. What should I use as fertilizer and when???

Well, I'm new to the jasmine game myself but the whole garden seems to respond well to a manure-tea/kelp combo. The first year we had our garden in the scorching late Vancouver summer almost everything bit the dust in spite of assiduous watering, and container plants seem to need even more regular fertilizing since they can't make their own very easily. I'm pretty far from a pro gardener myself but consistent fertilization has worked wonders.
I agree with RS that repotting is a good plan so let us know how that goes.
