Whenever someone you know complains about rising prices etc., encourage them to read articles like the one above. They are almost like an official confirmation of the trend that appears to be for a few years to come. Encourage them to become more frugal, read on frugality on the net, save more, spend less and work more.

and work more.
I think people work too much as it is. I think they should work less.

I like the idea of working less myself. My life has been so much less stressful since I found a way to have summers and all holidays off. :) Not to mention I get to do this in a job I enjoy.
But I heard someone say on here that, "Jobs shouldn't be for fun. A job is a job, it's not supposed to provide fulfillment."--I think this idea is silly. Why spend a good portion of my life doing something that I despise so I can have some money.

Agreed.
I read a story once online (i will try to find it again) about a man who worked insane hours every week. He was getting really frustrated and overworked and not enjoying his work and he was always too exhausted to do some of the things he LOVED to do and he never had time for them because of work. I think the story went on to talk about how he finally stopped to think about his life and what all he REALLY needed and things he could do without.
He was looking for a way to live on less so he could enjoy life more. Granted, he was single at the time, I believe. But at one point, he sold his house, bought a teepee and asked some people with some extra land if he could live on it and pay them $100 a month. he sent up the teepee (it was actually pretty spacious, because really, how much do you actually need?) with a little cooking deal, a bed, a tiny slab for his laptop and i think maybe he had a bookcase or two.
Anyway. He lived in that for quite a while and then got the idea of building a little "hobbit" type home. He was fairly inexpensive and gave him the room he needed for sleep, shelter, cooking.
In all this ramble, a point: he was able to work less because he didn't have as much to pay for, and enjoy life more and he had time to do the things he really and truly loved.
I will try to find that article and post it here. I'm sure it will be more understood than my funky post.

I am for ahving a very cosy job that is fun with great wages. However, reality is very different for the future specially considering oil prices.
