9 mile run this morning. It was drizzling out. Weird to get rain this time of year in CA.

24 April 2005

Backpacking/camping trip...got out about 12 P.M. yesterday...hiked for a couple of hours...rested...hiked some more...set up camp...

Got up this morning around 6 A.M....had some coffee...hiked back down.

Not as much hiking as I would have liked, but there was still some snow drifts on the northside of the mountains, so we find a spot not so far in. :hamster:

:nigel: Cheers!

Yesterday I ran 24K at a pretty slow pace. I'm concentrating on not overdoing it before my race on May 7th. I might do some weights this afternoon.

I'm concentrating on not overdoing it before my race on May 7th.

Same here (except for the May 7th part) ... this is my last week before my race and I can't help going fast ... I just want to get the mileage in and be done with it as quickly as possible :D I think I'll have to take the dog with me tomorrow to slow me down :)

Sunday was a 10 mile bike ride with lots of wind.
Monday was a moderately-hard 6 mile run and weights.

Go Hamsters

Hi Hamsters!
14 mile run today, I was planning to do it yesterday but Sat I took 18, 11 year olds (Girl Scouts) camping and I didn't get much sleep. So, I figured it would be better to run today. It was a fairly good run but (help me out long distance folks) I have been feeling kind of crappy after a lot of my long runs...like, I feel nauseous, sometimes very much so, and for up to an hour or two after, any ideas? I only felt really hungry after my long training runs last year, so this has me a little worried. Maybe I need to spend more time on cool down? I try to walk around for about 20 minutes...maybe more.

Great run Captain, hehehehe....better rain than snow! It snowed here on Sat. but only flurries...nothing stuck.

pseudo_vegan, wow chica, you really get some good Hamstering in!! What mountains are you hiking?

markc7, Great run, good not to overdo it, but hard to contain yourself that close to the run. Way to restrain!!

Virtue23, Yeah for you!! Great Hamstering!!

rainbowmoon, you can count on me :whip: O' and I love your new avatar!

Good work remilard!

annabanana, what race are you doing?

Go Hamsters!!! Woo Hooo!!! :bobo:

Not too good today. Rode my bike to the store. About a mile and a half or so.

That is generally either low blood sugar or your body not being able to efficiently eliminate metabolic waste. The fix for the latter is to drink more water, it is typically a symptom of dehydration.

Pete Sampras threw up on center court in the quarterfinal of the 96 US Open, so I guess it happens to everyone from time to time.

Hmmm....I am so careful about keeping hydrated...yet it is still a problem. But I think it may be the low blood sugar, I do have a problem with that as well as anemia...I crave coke after runs, which I would normally never drink. Yet, when I drink them, they make me feel better. I guess I'm just a high maintenance runner :spew:

Ugh, I think I strained my right hip or upper leg muscles in my dance class last night. Now I'm left limping around work... I can barely walk without pain. :(

To top it off, I have a 60 min. dance practice tonight. Hopefully, I can get through it.

Make sure you warm up completely before, and stretch after as the pain allows.

I haven't posted here in a little while. Anyway, I generally have been having trouble keeping a regular routine lately, but I'm trying to get back into it. Today I did running/walking intervals. 40 minutes in all.

pseudo_vegan, wow chica, you really get some good Hamstering in!! What mountains are you hiking?

Last weekend was the...stuff in the Pike National Forest, methinks...GREAT terrain (minus the remaining snow drifts)...the spot we picked to set up camp was like some sort of mystical faerie-tale forest...can't even describe with words it was so neat...

Sorry, O/T :sealed:

Today: 150 cable-crunches @ 40-lbs. / 350 cable-crunches @ 42.5-lbs. / 125 leg-lifts

I plan on going for a run...even though it looks like rain (AGAIN)...always with the rain...

:nigel: Cheers, hammies!

Slynny, you may want to put a coke out on your route to drink in the middle of a long run. I actually do know people who do this.

The only time I feel sick after a long run is usually an hour or two AFTER the run.

annabanana, what race are you doing?

It's a duathlon in southern Illinois...3 mile run, 18 mile bike, 3 mile run. I'm excited for it...it will be fun (I hope) :)

Today was a 4 mile run and lower weights.

I <3 tapering :D

Rest day today, I feel really good only slightly sore in the hips, but my quads and calves feel great.

Virtue, If you feel that much pain I would recommend some time off...don't push it.

Elena, nice to see you!! Gotta make your workouts a priority! Easier said....I know.

pseudo_vegan, sounds perdy! Great workout! Hey, what ever happened with those runs you were going to do? Are they coming up?

cyk, awesome...as always.

Captain, I guess I could try a coke during a run, instead of gaterade I'll make my own sports drink! I'll drink coke and V-8...that might do it! Extreme Gaterade! Seriously though, I did plan to have my hub bring me V-8 for along the way at the marathon, I guess he could bring me coke too.

annabanana, that sounds awesome! Have fun and Good Luck!

Yeah Hamsters!! :hamster:

Ayyy.... :wall:

The first one was last weekend...yeah, I went camping instead because...well I didn't get my time down, etc...and something about being out in the woods with my omni vs. running along side 13,000 people...

But I am definately set on doing the second one...Memorial Day weekend, methinks...whichever one is in May...so I've about a month. And even though I've felt sluggish lately and have slacked off more than I'd like to admit :sealed:, I'm gonna really go for it...though I'm scared...but that being said:

Tonight I did a 50-minute run, with one walk-break at the 25-minute mark...I've cut some time off of the stretch I ran, as it used to take me an hour so... :hamster:

:nigel: Cheers!
