As I posted in another thread, I have just discovered I have an old, badly healed fracture (shoulder) that has been causing me pain.
However, I really want to get back to the gym.. I had 5 weeks off due to flu and bronchitis, and I am so lethargicn and agitated.
However, I don't want to do any more damage etc, esp as I am currently waiting on a CT scan.
I figured using bikes/running machines would be ok, but I am wondering about X country machines, swimming, and rowing machines.. I have been using them up until now, but now, obviously, I am worried.

Wait until your doctor says its okay.

Agreed. You could probably just give the office a call however, and he'd give you an idea of what might be okay as far as gym activities.

Your doctor will probably have to approve it, but you may want to consider physical therapy.

I have a herniated disk in my lower back and have had two injuries to my neck and shoulder area. My physical therapist applied ultasound, electrostimulation and taught me strenghtening exercises to target those areas, which also helped alleviate the pain.

I don't know how effective utrasound and electrostimulation are in regards to fractures, but learning ways to strenghten the area can be very beneficial. And if you're lucky, you may just get a massage out of the deal. That was the best part of the therapy for me!

I know how hard it is to deal with the pain on a daily basis. Good luck with whatever treatment you seek. :sunny:

i'd ask your doctor about a calcium supplement as well as glucosamine. i would wait until i had medical clearance (sounds like they're going to know what's up soon) before i started working out that body part again.

it won't kill you to use lower body until then. look at it as an opportunity to train your lower body extra hard! :)
