View Full Version : Race-thing bitterness and woes...

So I did my first time-trial yesterday for my *supposed* first race-thing...it's two weeks out...and I'm having serious doubts (I've not even registered yet).

Now grant, it was the first time I ran the mapped out trail (from the website) and I was flustered and messed up...gah a plethora of things went wrong last night when I did it...things I couldn't really control but I'll whine about them nonetheless:

a.) I lost about two minutes time (stopped my watch though) to walk because I started getting *ahem* girl-cramps and I simply could NOT run; I walked them off

b.) I couldn't read the street signs b/c it was getting dark so I went a couple blocks too far west, but figured it wasn't that big of a deal since I had to walk for a spell already

c.) I forgot the last loop around and finished way too soon (like suspiciously soon), and my poor navigation/memory was confirmed when I checked the map back at the car and saw what I had missed

Okay, and not that any of those things are to fret about--I'll just run it again with the mapped more engrained in my head, and pray I don't get the girl-bends...but what really IRKS me is that my "friend" who I ran it with...he effing smoked TWO CIGARETTES earlier in the day and ran like a 7:30-mile.

He doesn't smoke very often, but he does nonetheless. I do not. He hasn't run for like two weeks. I've run every day this week and most last week and... :grr: I just don't get it. My ankle hurt pretty badly today so I skipped out on any cardio and I plan on trying the trail tomorrow.

I don't want to be bitter/angry towards this person...it's not his fault he totally schools me and I work so hard and...gah. I digress. Sorry, VB-ers...I just gotta rant because it's frustrating. Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow after I can run the correct course and get a more accurate estimate for my time/speed... ::le sigh:: :flush:

:nigel: Cheers and thanks for reading my /cry all day!

i'm sure you'll do better once you learn the course better.
just make sure you eat enough before hand, lots of carbs and some protein, and of course tons of water.

...and salt.

I was thinking about how if I run it, I get to carbo-load the night before...and whoa, momma...I love me some carbohydrates :smitten:

HeHe.

:nigel: Cheers!
